I received an unconfirmed report that Apple Tech Support told a user that the blinking question mark problem with the Power Mac 6500 was due to its L2 cache. This was unrelated to the L2 cache problem that affected System 7.5.5. However, this new report does not appear to be correct.
Happily, Richard Kunert has come up with what is at least a partial solution. He writes:

This reminds me of previous problems, reported here awhile back, that led to the temporary withdrawal of this software. Apparently, some problems still remain.
They add: "We have every intention of isolating these problems and taking the appropriate steps to correct product deficiencies. But sometimes the problems are caused by other areas of the Mac which have nothing to do with the Silverlining driver."
