Several people are reporting that Acrobat Reader (3.0 or 3.0.1) crashes with Mac OS 8, especially in Mac OS 8 if ATM or Launcher is also active. I have never had any problems here myself, but there must be something going on: As noted by Rory Gile, Adobe has pulled Acrobat Reader 3.0.1 from their ftp site. According to Adobe Tech Support, a new version 3.1 is expected within a week.
Last June, we detailed problems with Drive Setup 1.2.4, which was eventually withdrawn from release. The promised fix was Drive Setup 1.3. It is here now. It is included as part of Mac OS 8, but is also usable in Mac OS 7.1.2 or later and is available as a separate download from Apple's ftp sites. Check the ReadMe file for more details.
Jeffrey A. Goldman writes: "If one attempts to load a Windows driver for Zip (or Jaz) cartridges onto a Virtual PC HD image, it will so badly corrupt the image as to require a total, ground up rebuild." He claims that Connectix has confirmed this.
