And in other news...

Steve Jobs issued a memo to Apple employees describing some new cost-cutting measures (such as eliminating sabbaticals). An unknown worker sent another memo with Steve Jobs name attached - "humorously" suggesting further cutbacks (no more sick time). Steve was not amused and in yet another apparently real memo said that "Fraudulently using someone else's name is not a joke, and any employee found doing so will be immediately terminated."

Bug reports from the MRP

HDT Today's MRP reports on new device data files for HDT 2.0.6. However, Eric also describes that his PowerBook 3400 went south after installing the drivers. This may relate to previously reported similar problems with HDT. Stay tuned.

Open Transport Yesterday's MRP describes a confirmed bug with "native Open Transport whereby it tries to allocate memory, when it shouldn't, running over LocalTalk." This problem is likely to affect Timbuktu Pro 4.0. Farallon describes a work-around.

Versions of Doctor Solomon earlier than 7.7.1 appear not to have this problem.

Troubleshooting CyberStudio 2

Following up on the previous item on GoLive's CyberStudio (which overall looks like an excellent web site design application): Benjamin Müller was having problems with new CyberStudio 2. In particular, he was getting Type 12 errors. He tracked down what appeared to be the cause of these errors to CyberStudio's Project Module and perhaps to a conflict with some QuickDraw 3D extensions. He wrote to GoLive about this. While they did not directly confirm his findings, their reply did list several problems that they could confirm (some of which are also in the ReadMe file that … Read more
