Schiller plugs Apple's updated video, audio suites

Apple has a history of appealing to creative professionals and has reiterated its interest in these core customers with the release of two major suites.

On Thursday, Apple updated its high-end video production suite, Final Cut Studio, and its audio suite, Logic Studio.

Apple began bundling its professional apps together several years ago, differentiating them into audio and video suites. Doing so allows customers to work on several applications, while staying in one environment.

Gettin' In The Groove

After three weeks of living with two phones, I've finally gotten the Pre on my own Sprint account. No more Samsung Instinct. No more charging two, carrying two, and texting from two phones.

Looks Like No Homebrews for this Homegrrrl

Why it looks like I won't be getting any homebrew apps for now.

Well, I uninstalled everything and followed the full instructions for installing the Mojo SDK on my Macbook Pro with OX 10.4, and it appears as though I am SOL for now.

Unless I was drunk when I first went through this process a couple days ago and have completely forgotten what I saw on the various download pages, the information about what OSX will install the Mac OSX Version of the SDK has changed (see screen shot below).

Apple revamps Logic Studio audio suite

Apple released on Thursday the next major version of Logic Studio, the company's suite of professional audio applications.

I was given early access to the new version and have been using it for some time now. I can say the new features will not only improve your workflow, but will also improve the sound of your music.

Apple releases new Final Cut Studio

Apple introduced on Thursday a new version of Final Cut Studio, the company's high-end video production suite.

The suite comes with six applications in all, including Final Cut Pro 7, Motion 4, Soundtrack Pro 3, Color 1.5, Compressor 3.5, and DVD Studio Pro 4. Most of the work in this release was spent on the flagship app of the suite, Final Cut Pro.

Homebrew Apps Anyone?

About my experience trying to get some homebrew apps.

As my fellow test-drive bloggers have noted, the "official" apps for the Pre are still a bit limited. I do love Pandora--that has distracted me for a good while--but let's face it: It's time for more and it's getting harder to wait. I knew this would be the case for a while, and I have been waiting--patiently. Until yesterday.

App Catalog - still waiting

The App Catalog is where the Pre 'plans' to offer the apps to add on to the phone. I say 'plans' because right now, the App Catalog is in Beta. There aren't many apps in the app catalog, and what's there hasn't wowed me. There may be some useful apps that I haven't tried there, but they're likely in an area that isn't of great concern to me (like stock watching). I have downloaded Accuweather, which is nice and polished, Pandora, AP & New York times feeds (which I rarely look at, but appear to present news), Sodoku, which is fairly standard sodoku, and Splash ID, for storing personal information. Looks useful. Beyond that, there isn't much in the way of applications.

MLB streaming all games to iPhone, iPod Touch

Major League Baseball took another step in proving its technical superiority over the other three major sports leagues Wednesday, by connecting its wired MLB.tv subscription package with its At Bat iPhone application.

Beginning Wednesday, MLB will stream every single regular and postseason baseball game to fans via the $9.99 iPhone and iPod Touch application it initially released last year. Is today my birthday? No? Because I just got one helluva gift: Public Radio Player 2.0, the latest version of the killer radio-streaming app, which now lets you listen to your favorite shows on-demand.
