Hulu pulls content off Boxee

Fresh from removing content from TV.com, Hulu has now requested that Boxee, the maker of media-center software, stop making Hulu's videos available, according to a statement posted to Boxee's blog.

"Two weeks ago Hulu called and told us their content partners were asking them to remove Hulu from Boxee," Boxee said in the post. "We tried (many times) to plead the case for keeping Hulu on Boxee, but on Friday of this week, in good faith, we will be removing it. You can see their blog post about the issues they are facing." … Read more

How the Web changed my content consumption

For the past few weeks, I've kept a log of all the activities I've engaged in to see how the Web is impacting my life--at least when it comes to my consumption of media. But before I get into my findings, I should first offer some perspective. Years ago, before the days of Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and others, I was a book and movie fanatic. I would read any book you put in front of me, and any time I had the chance to watch a film, I took it. The same was true with gaming. At times, I would play a game for an entire afternoon, take a break for a while to watch a TV show or movie, and go back to that game after dinner. I was an entertainment nut. I did everything I could to find out about new books, shows, movies, or games, and spent much of my time enjoying them.

But media technology has changed and so has my consumption of it. The Web now consumes my life. How much? The log I've kept over the past few weeks shows it, in minute-by-minute detail. … Read more

New evidence links Hulu with mushed brains

I don't know how old Alec Baldwin really is. But my guess is that his driver's license would not reveal him to be younger than he looks.

And it seems that Hulu, the brand Baldwin so brilliantly sold during the Super Bowl (who will ever forget that TV turns your brains to mush? Well, most TV viewers will, because their brains have turned to mush), is delighting in a little more maturity than some might think.

The Wall Street Journal suggested Wednesday that when Hulu went public last March, its largest demographic was not snotty-nosed punks actively looking … Read more

Hulu: We're evil, and proud of it

Note: Spoiler alert, if you haven't seen Hulu's Super Bowl ad.

Google's "don't be evil" motto has been the target of the occasional critic. Hulu, however, has declared in its hyped-up Super Bowl TV ad that it is evil--and it's not making any apologies.

The Web video hub, a joint venture between NBC Universal and News Corp., promised to "reveal its secret" in the Super Bowl ad created by agency Crispin Porter & Borgusky, which was running on NBC on Sunday evening. It was an important debut for Hulu, as many … Read more
