Sony Cyber-shot cameras: Now in high-def!

Sony's still thinking small with its Cyber-shot digital cameras, keeping most models thin, light, and easy to pocket. The company just announced its spring lineup of Cyber-shots, which includes no less than five new T- and W-series cameras that measure less than an inch thick.

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W200 is the first ultracompact digital camera to break 10 megapixels. The W200 features a 12-megapixel sensor that can record images up to 4,000x3,000. The W200 joins the 8-megapixel Cyber-shot DSC-W90 and the 7-megapixel W80, which share the same 35-to-105mm-equivalent optical zoom lens, the same 2.5-inch LCD screen, … Read more

Sony's new Cyber-shot cameras partially revealed

An anonymous tipster has apparently tipped off Engadget to a catalog showing the British versions of Sony's new Cyber-shot cameras. Most of the catalog images indicate the information is confidential until February 27, which is when we'll have more details on the U.S models.

While you wait, here's what Engadget is reporting based on its catalog browsing: the new models are called the T20HDPR (camera/printer bundle), T100 (pictured), T20, H9, H7, G1, W200, and W90 Cyber-shots.

Engagdet says, "All the new cams bring Sony's Super SteadyShot image stabilization and HD output to the … Read more

CyberDefender raffles off 'Aqua Teen' LED

Last Wednesday, the execs in charge of the latest Aqua Teen Hunger Force marketing campaign got a bit more publicity than they expected when the city of Boston called in bomb squads and shut down bridges after police mistakenly took the LED advertisements to be hazardous materials.

Six days and one $2 million fine for parent company Turner Broadcasting later, the Web is still captivated by the Mooninites who nearly shut down the city of Boston.

At this week's RSA Conference in San Francisco, the software company CyberDefender is giving away one of the infamous signs of Ignignokt (Err … Read more

A bounty of budget Sony shooters

Sony has some new cameras on the way, and they're all strangely similar. The company just announced the Cyber-shot DSC-W35, W55, S650, and S700, four sub-$200, 7-megapixel point-and-shoot cameras. They're simple, inexpensive models with the standard complement of snapshot features, including a top sensitivity of ISO 1000 for low-light and high-speed shots.

The Cyber-shot DSC-W35 and W55 replace the DSC-W30 and W50 in Sony's Cyber-shot W-series of ultracompact snapshot cameras. At just more than five ounces with battery and memory card, they're light and easily pocketable. They both use 38 to 114mm-equivalent lenses and include … Read more

Happy Cyber Monday!

Is this a holiday? It might as well be. I should have taken the day off; I love to shop. Trust me, I am a shopaholic. But if there's one thing I hate, it's the shopping crowds. The crowds annoy me so much that it actually puts me out of my shopping mood. I can shop without food, but I can't shop with a crowd. I love online shopping because there are no crowds, just me and my computer. It's Cyber Monday, which is supposedly the biggest online shopping day of the year. There are a … Read more
