Audi fleet testing A1 e-tron city car

Audi started testing its fleet of A1 e-tron Mega City Vehicle (MCV) in Munich. The Audi A1 e-tron is a pint-size 102-hp extended range plug-in that has a 31-mile electric range and uses a small, single-rotor Wankel to recharge the lithium ion battery to provide additional range 125 miles of range. The estimated fuel economy according to the draft standard for extended range vehicles is 123 mpg, but they may have to recalculate that number like GM will for the Volt.

Although the carmaker is rolling out only 20 A1 e-tron fleet vehicles, it's installing 200 charging stations for … Read more

PAX day 1: Torchlight II, Goldeneye 007, Tron

I just got back from my first day of 2010's PAX. At this three-day gaming festival, the big names have pulled out their big guns to try to out-wow each other in pursuit of gamers' geeky greenbacks. Here are a few of the best things I saw.

Tron

The new Tron game is pretty awesome. The reps from Disney wanted to show me the story elements and cinema cutaways. I said, "Show me the Light Cycles." And they did.

I played on two different platforms, the PS3 and the Wii. The games are very different. For the … Read more

Race light bikes at top speed

LightBike 2 is a fast-paced, Snake-style arcade game in which you compete in vehicles similar to the light cycles in the classic movie "Tron."

You turn at 90-degree angles by tapping touch-screen buttons on your right and left, as you build walls to try to box in your competitor bikes--AIs or fellow humans, via Bluetooth or Internet--and you can also tap buttons to jump and temporarily boost your speed. You have both a first-person view and an inset top-view radar, and you can choose between standard and death match modes on two different maps.

The rounds go very … Read more

'Tron Legacy' gear includes wall-climbing light cycles, glowing controllers

As we headed to a Disney preview of toys and gear for the upcoming "Tron" movie sequel, "Tron Legacy," we were reminded of what Yogurt said in "Spaceballs": "Merchandising, merchandising!"

While we're as excited about Disney's upcoming "Tron" sequel as anybody, it's clear the merchandising push will be fierce and all-encompassing. But if our preview of a few of the upcoming items is any indication, some of them are actually kind of cool, too.

Among the very many pieces of Tron gear available for your shopping pleasure … Read more

'Tron' T-shirt glows just like it should

Online apparel store Threadless has a new T-shirt called My Other Ride Is a Light Cycle. Clearly inspired by the retro Disney movie "Tron," it features a glow-in-the-dark print that will make it look like you have a glowing printed circuit board on your body when the lights go off.

This tee is perfect for those who love the old movie and are looking forward to the upcoming sequel, "Tron: Legacy." The shirt is available now online for $20 and will probably go well with the Adidas Adicolor Tron shoes and tracksuit from 2006.

The Audi R8 E-Tron Concept car

A lot of cars from a variety of manufacturers made their world debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. Perhaps one of the most noteworthy automobiles to emerge out of Frankfurt was the Audi R8 E-Tron concept car. Yes, it is certainly flashy and eye appealing.
