Transponder watch makes DBS owners feel like James Bond

As if Aston Martin DBS owners don't feel enough like James Bond while driving, Aston Martin and luxury watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre have announced the AMVOX2 DBS transponder watch. The transponder watch will allow wannabe-007s to lock and unlock their DBS coupe by pressing the open and close positions respectively on the watch's glass.

The wristwatch features a prominent DBS logo, as well as bezel and dial details designed to reflect the gauges of the DBS. Aston Martin says the transponder module only adds a few grams to the weight of the watch and that the electronics inside have been … Read more

Sneak peek at Aston Martin's One-77 supercar

Aston Martin has begun teasing its upcoming ultra-exclusive supercar, the One-77. Production is rumored to be limited to 77 units. From what we can see in the intentionally shadowy rendering, the One-77 looks like the offspring of the Aston Martin DBS and the Corvette ZR-1, both classic in proportion and purposefully muscular. Then again, all Astons look great, so that's to be expected.

Aston has been equally stingy with the drivetrain specs, but this early in development that too is to be expected. What Aston has told us is that the One-77 will start with a sophisticated carbon fiber … Read more

Aston Martin couch takes a back seat to none

An ejector seat might be a fine way to get rid of the boss, but let's be serious--it isn't exactly something you'd find showcased in Architectural Digest. Aston Martin's "DB6 Couch" might not be either, but at least it doesn't threaten to send you flying out a window.

This limited-edition piece, from Aston Martin Heritage Designs, is an exact replica of a DB6 model's rear end with and is available in custom colors. Also true to the real thing is the price: $7,300, according to OhGizmo, and that doesn't even … Read more

Cleaner and faster cars at the L.A. Auto Show

The Los Angeles Auto Show wraps up this weekend. I drove down to the Los Angeles Convention Center last week to check out the new BMW M3--which I hope to buy next year--and get a look at all the other new cars debuting there.

There were two clear trends at the show: higher performance and increased environmental sensitivity. The best new vehicles show improvements in both areas.

The new M3, for example, delivers 24% more power (414 hp!) from its new four-liter V8 along with 8% better gas mileage, along with more interior room than its predecessor and many new … Read more

For those of you in two minds about whether to make the trip out to the exotic car extravaganza at this week's Pebble Beach Concourse d'Elegance, Aston Martin has just given you a very compelling reason to do so. A cameo appearance of the Aston Martin DBS as James Bond's latest whip in Casino Royale whet our appetites in anticipation of a production version of the curvaceous coupe, and Aston is using this week's event to pull the wraps off. If you can't make it over to Monterey at short notice, you can check out … Read more

The winner is: Volkswagen's GTI. Automobile magazine may be published in Michigan, but it picked the VW GTI as its Automobile of the Year for 2007. Here's what our CNET car tech editors thought about the 2006 GTI.
