MacArmyKnife 1.2 is out. It has a fix for when booting off a locked startup disk. It also adds a Resource Miner, a function that allows you to extract sounds and pictures from a large group of files and save them as individual files.

Open Using 1.4 is out. It adds the ability to open files using a running application. It also fixes a bug where separator lines were sometimes not displayed.

Utilities Updates: SwitchRes; Excel Recovery; URL Manager Pro; more

SwitchRes 2.1.2 allows you to control the resolutions of all your displays. In this latest update, a conflict with NetBarrier is corrected. It also fixes a conflict with TechTool Pro, where it reported SwitchRes Contextual Menu plugin to be damaged.

Excel Recovery for Macintosh is about to be released. A public beta is now available. [See also previous MacFixIt item.] (Thanks, Gary Adams.)

Fresh Start release version 1.0 is now out. It is a program designed for shared Macintoshes. It restores a Macintosh's configuration -- preferences, PRAM and some system settings -- to a standard state at each restart.

CD-ROM SpeedTools 4.0.1 is out.

MacLinkPlus 11.001 fixes a problem when decompressing Stuffit 5 compressed files. Previously, the user might receive an error that the (stuffed) file is corrupt or was not downloaded properly. Wapp pro 2.1 (final release version) is out. It displays a menu that lists the windows of the frontmost applications, the background applications and their respective windows in submenus. You can activate any window, even it's hidden by several other windows, or if the process is hidden.

Terry Morse GoClick 3.0.1 is an update to this utility that "converts any document into a Web page with one click."

SerialCheck 1.11 is now available. It's a tool for checking serial ports.
