Lexmark, HP face off in Web-connected,
touch-screen-printing battle

Not to be outdone by HP's recent touch-screen printer, the folks at Lexmark just debuted their line of Web-connected touch-screen all-in-ones.

The big difference between the two is that although they both have touch technology, the HP Photosmart Premium with TouchSmart Web is meant to live in the home, while the three printers featuring Lexmark's MyTouch technology are designed to increase productivity for the business market. Nevertheless, this won't stop us from putting them side-by-side in the first ever Web-connected, touch-screen-printing kumite.

Only three out of the eight new products include a large 4.3-inch touch screen, … Read more

Internet monitor

Keep It Up provides people with a way to monitor their Internet connections to ensure they are getting the best performance possible. While its simple functionality is great, the program has a limited appeal for computer users.

The program has a very simple interface that most people should find fairly intuitive. It primarily consists of a small screen with two bar-style meters monitoring Internet productivity. Beyond that, there are options for minimizing and bringing the box to the top, as well as a calendar option. Users unclear of what is happening can visit the Help file, but should be prepared … Read more

The sources said the talks are only preliminary and no deals have been struck. But apparently, Sony is considering offering music on the PlayStation Network, the company's nascent multiplayer gaming and digital download service. Such a move could place the PSP in direct competition with other multiuse music players, most notably the iPhone.

Spokespeople from Sony and the big recording labels declined to comment for this story.

The PSP is a nifty little handheld that plays … Read more
