I've just finished reviewing this Hercules Mobile DJ product, and I must say that for $99, it's actually pretty fun. Still, the package design is hilariously bad. It's like someone dropped some bad acid right before opening up Photoshop.

About this time of year, the new phones we saw at CTIA start to line up for their respective carriers. Last week, we told you that AT&T/Cingular was picking up the Samsung SGH-A717 and SGH-A727, and now Mobiledia is putting the Motorola W385 on deck for Verizon Wireless. Sporting a thin design that looks like a mashup of Moto's Razr and Krzr phones, the W385 has a low-end feature set that includes a VGA camera, a speakerphone, text and multimedia messaging, and Bluetooth. It should arrive at Verizon within the next couple of months.

Verizon Wireless has just announced that it will be the exclusive provider of the Casio G'zOne Type-S rugged cell phone, starting tomorrow. A successor to the Type-V handset it debuted a year ago, the Type-S is much smaller and has a more streamlined designed, but it was still made with the same military-grade specifications. According to Verizon and Casio, it is able to withstand extreme humidity, three feet of water for up to 30 minutes, and drops from about five feet; it can also resist dust as fine as silica flour. PhoneScoop spotted the Casio G'zOne Type-S phone on the FCC site yesterday, and it looks to be the smaller version of the G'zOne Type-V phone we reviewed last year. The Type-S seems to be just as durable and rugged as its predecessor, although the specs on it are slightly different: it sports a VGA camera instead of the 2-megapixel one on the Type-V, and features Bluetooth, which the Type-V didn't. Qwest Wireless customers will soon be able to wirelessly surf the Net at 3G speeds on their laptops.

The company says it will offer its customers wireless broadband service using Sprint Nextel's evolution data optimized (EVDO) network. Qwest has been using the Sprint wireless network to provide nationwide coverage for its cellular subscribers since 2003. Now the carrier will be able to offer nationwide broadband wireless too.
