Three new Sony Ericsson headsets

Sony Ericsson has just announced three new headsets to go with the slew of new cell phones the company announced earlier this week. While the HBM-75 is a regular wired stereo earbud set, the HBH-PV702 and the HBH-PV710 are two Bluetooth headsets that appear to have the same pen-shape design as previous Sony Ericsson headsets such as the HBH-610 Bluetooth headset. While both of them look similar, the HBH-PV710 has a rated standby time of 12.5 days and comes in brown and red, while the HBH-PV702 is the more basic model with a rated standby time of 8.3 … Read more

Tiny headset brings color to the ear

We've developed an intense dislike for the overuse of Bluetooth headsets, as they seem to encourage obnoxiously loud talking in public places. But if people insist on grafting them to their skulls, the least they can do is wear ones that look good. Bluetake meets that challenge with its latest offering. Gadgeteer wasn't thrilled with the performance of the BT400GL, which the company describes as "one of the smallest and lightest headsets on the market," but did note an important style point for fashionistas: It comes in "girly flashy pink and manly silver."

Nokia churns out three new headsets

Nokia wasn't content to just release a sexy new phone or a cool new Internet tablet, so it also debuted three new Bluetooth headsets here at CES 2007.

The low-end beginner model is the Nokia BH-100, which is really small and cute and comes with three different color bumpers. It weighs about 11 grams and has a rated talk time of 6.5 hours.

The Nokia BH-120 is a step up and comes with a lanyard so you can wear it around your neck. It is pretty compact, comes with three different earbud sizes, and has a rated talk … Read more

FoneGear Mini Blu II Bluetooth headset

Bluetooth headsets seem to be getting smaller and smaller, and the Mini Blu II Bluetooth headset from FoneGear is no different. Debuting at CES is the upgrade to the previous Mini Blu line, and it weighs in at only 0.31 ounce. It's a Bluetooth 2.0 headset with a rated talk time of 4 hours and a rated standby time of 3 days and 3 hours. The Mini Blu II will be available in the first quarter of 2007, though we don't know its price yet.

Gennum nx6000: Yet another tiny headset

There's no shortage of Bluetooth headsets here at CES, and the Gennum nx6000 stood out as one of the smallest ones we've seen. Weighing in at only 0.38 ounce, and sporting a more flexible earloop and smaller earpiece, the nx6000 is an improvement from Gennum's previous headset designs. It comes with a mini-USB jack for recharging and as a way to "future-proof" the device, as Gennum plans to enable consumers to download future firmware updates. The nx6000 has a battery strength indicator feature and utilizes Gennum's noise-cancellation technology, which isolates the user's … Read more

Plantronics expands headset line

Just when we thought Plantronics couldn't improve their Discovery 600 headset series any more, here it comes with a brand new update, the Plantronics Discovery 665, which debuted at CES 2007.

Though it isn't a significant upgrade from the Plantronics Discovery 655, there are a few notable improvements. First, the headset itself is much slimmer and smaller than its predecessor. Second, it is packaged with a new sound-enhancement technology, AudioIQ, which optimizes sound quality on both sides of every call. And third, it comes with a sparkly headset-charging pocket that lights up whenever there's an incoming call. … Read more

It's mono Bluetooth. It's stereo Bluetooth. It's both.

Sometimes you chat. Sometimes you listen to music. Sometimes you alternate between the two on your music phone. And sometimes you alternate between the two using two different devices. Oh, why can't there be one Bluetooth earphone to handle all these situations?

Well, there is--the Jabra BT8010, to be released in the next couple months. First, it's a regular, single, over-the-ear Bluetooth earpiece with an OLED display that shows caller ID. You can also transfer up to 30 contacts to the headset in case you don't want to reach for your cell phone to make a call. … Read more

A headset for that hearing-aid look

Boring holiday meals spent with relatives provide plenty of time for idle thoughts like this: Where do earphones end and headsets begin? The answer to such pseudo-existential questions may lie in Argard's M10 Bluetooth headset, which is kind of the missing link of headgear.

Although the tiny device looks more like a shiny earbud, Argard says it provides three hours of talk time and 100 hours on standby, according to Gizmodo. Yet, while we're all for wireless technology wherever we can get it, we might be worried about this thing getting lost in our aural canal.
