Get a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7-inch tablet with 3G for $255

The other day I polled CNET Marketplace readers and asked them to name the "best" size for a tablet: 7-inch, 10-inch, or maybe something else.

This is an update of a deal I posted a couple months ago.

The results so far? Most users prefer the big 'uns. Of course, maybe that's because they haven't tried a 7-inch model yet.

Here's your chance to do that on the cheap.

Until 9 p.m. PT, and while supplies last, Yugster has the refurbished Samsung Galaxy Tab 7-inch Android tablet with Sprint 3G for $254.97, plus $… Read more

Rumor Has It, Ep. 14: Let's give Kodak an Internet hug (podcast)

We're baaaa-aaack!

And slap-happy after the break, so you may want to sit down to watch this show.

On the first Rumor Has It of 2012, we ask: who will make the next Kindle? Will Apple have some sort of snorefest in NYC? Are Acer and Lenovo Wintel-crazed? And are RIM's co-chairmen getting the boot?

But mostly, we pour one out for Kodak, which is suffering lately. Rumors out of Taiwan suggest it's going to make even fewer cameras next year, as it can no longer keep pace with Canon, Sony, and Nikon. Poor little Kodak: it … Read more

Rumor Has It, Ep. 13: Year-end rumor roundup extravaganza! (podcast)

It's the end of the year show! And we celebrate that, and Hanukkah, with a very special Rumor Has It today.

Instead of rounding up the week's hottest rumors, we've rounded up the year's hottest rumors. Bam! And we bet you can guess what's on our list.

We cover the ones that did come true, the ones that didn't, and the ones that were so annoying, we wanted to scream. Why won't some of these rumors ever die? At least they keep us in business.

What was your top rumor that did come true, didn't come true, or annoyed you to death? Let us know in the comments.

We don't have a show next week, but tune back in January 3, 2012 (!), for the first Humiliation Day of the year. Augh! … Read more

Get a Barnes & Noble Nook Simple Touch e-reader for $74.99

Need a sexy, practical, affordable last-minute gift? Barnes & Noble has you covered with the Nook Simple Touch e-reader for $74.99. And that includes expedited shipping, so it should arrive no later than December 22.

More good news: the Simple Touch is new, not refurbished--unlike the Nook Color I've been pimping for what seems like months.

There is, however, one small catch: This deal is available only through eBay, so you'll need an account there. Also, the auction page is currently showing "Limited quantity available," meaning this will likely sell out soon.

Actually, it appeared … Read more

Get an Acer Iconia 10-inch tablet for $249 shipped

Good news, everyone! Starting today, the Cheapskate newsletter will be winging its way to your inbox right after my deal gets posted--not several hours later, at which time the daily deal is often expired or sold out.

That means I can tell you about stuff like Tales of Monkey Island Complete Pack (PC/Mac) for $8.75, a sale that ends at noon ET today. (Okay, maybe that's overdoing it, but you get the idea.)

Update: Grrr, technical difficulties with the newsletter. My bad for jumping the gun before getting the kinks worked out. Stay tuned, it's coming!… Read more

Rumor Has It, Ep. 12: Samsung to release Retuna Deesplay tablet (podcast)

We start off the show today to announce that Karyne is already losing the betting war. The "Twilight" debacle from last week did nothing to deter the Universe from making sure that she loses. Every. Single. Time.

But somewhere out there, a man named Torod Neptune is walking around, and that somehow makes everything OK.

For our very special end-of-the-year show next week, we'll cover the proven rumors, debunked rumors, and most annoying rumors of 2011. If you have any suggestions, let us know.

On this week's show, Verizon looks to take over video streaming; the iPad 3 may come out in March, April, May, or June; Nokia and Microsoft are sluts; and Emily and Karyne share the same favorite number!

Get a 16GB iPad 2 Wi-Fi for $419 shipped

Faced with previously unmatched pressure from competitors, Apple will almost certainly cut iPad prices--but I don't think we'll see any "official" moves until January (at the earliest). In the meantime, it looks like the company is testing the price-cut waters with refurbished iPads.

Specifically, the online Apple Store has the 16GB iPad 2 Wi-Fi for $419 shipped. That's for the black model, though you can also get it in white. Either way, it's the lowest price to date on an iPad 2.

As I mentioned, these are refurbs--but don't let that give you … Read more

Rumor Has It, Ep. 10: Hey HTC! We'll be your flagship phone (podcast)

That's it. The month is up, and Karyne is losing the betting war.

But you know who's really losing the war? Acer, with its ridiculous leaked video promo for the Acer Iconia Tab A200. What's with that barfy piano music?

Also this week, we celebrate our 10th episode, laugh at HTC's obvious obviousness, give the 15-inch MacBook Air the 2-minute duck timer, and determine that if Apple releases an iPad 3D, we quit.… Read more

Get an Acer Iconia 10-inch tablet for $229.99

It's a fine time to be a tablet shopper. Every day seems to bring another big price cut, like yesterday's Nook Color for $119 (which is still available, FYI).

Today, Best Buy has one of the best deals to date on a 10-inch tablet: the Acer Iconia A500 for $229.99 shipped (plus sales tax in most states). Surprisingly, it's new, not refurbished.

The Iconia comes with a 1GHz dual-core processor, 8GB of storage, a 10.1-inch screen, and Android 3.2 (Honeycomb). It sports front- and rear-facing cameras (the latter capable of 5-megapixel snapshots and 720p … Read more

Get a Nook Color tablet for $119 shipped

I'm going to make this quick because A) It's Saturday, and B) I'm concerned this is going to sell out while I'm typing these very words.

Barnes & Noble via eBay has the refurbished Nook Color 7-inch tablet for $119 shipped (plus sales tax in some states).

If you've somehow managed to resist the Nook as its price dropped from $199 to $179 to $159 to $139, your patience has paid off. Might we see it dip below $100 at some point? I suppose it's possible, but I have to think B&N … Read more
