Within the last week, Dutch manufacturer Spyker Cars completed its acquisition of the Swedish Saab brand from General Motors--a deal that's been in the works for quite a while now. And so it seems that Saab has a new lease on life in the automotive world, but exactly what that future is or how it will pan out is a topic of mere speculation. It has been said that often times one must know about the past to understand the future, and with this credo I present today's video--a tribute to the rich history of Saab brand automobiles.… Read more
CHICAGO--General Motors will add technology to its next generation of full-size pickups, including adaptive cruise control and Bluetooth connectivity.
In addition, GM may offer a flexible electronics system that is compatible with a wide range of aftermarket devices beyond MP3 players and mobile phones.
Technology in the electronics industry "moves so fast," said Rick Spina, GM's global vehicle line executive for full-size trucks. The pickups "will be more flexible" for adapting to aftermarket features.
But GM will stick with its basic formula for the next-generation, restyled, and re-engineered Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, due in … Read more

Knowing that the people with the highest interest in the Chevy Volt are tech savvy and can spend hours engaged in geeky talk about new battery technologies and off-peak charging rates, GM is using a Web site to push technical details about the upcoming series hybrid car to the public.
The site, called VoltageU, lives under the larger Voltage umbrella site, and aims to provide quick access to in-depth articles and video about the Chevy Volt, breaking it down into four areas: technology, charging, battery, and infrastructure.
Under the surface, the site is a mish-mash, with links going out to … Read more
We've seen them at auto shows and special events, the 12 hottest tech cars to debut in 2010. Each of these cars represents automakers' efforts to push the technology envelope, whether through cabin or power-train tech.
Don't expect to find another tired update of an economy model amongst this group. Some are radical attempts to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, others institute new technologies in the cabin, and a few we've selected are pinnacles of engineering.
These cars will become available to the public throughout the year, and it looks like a good year indeed.
Normally I don't do things this way in this blog, but I figured what the heck--let's change horses midstream and take a look at some of the vehicles presented at the 2010 North American International Auto Show. With that in mind, I present you with today's Web video blog post--a short but sweet look at some of the noteworthy cars presented for knowledge and viewing pleasure at this year's event in Detroit.
What we have here today is another brief but informative video produced by the good folks at Inside Line that gives viewers a snapshot … Read more

This deal caused Saab to halt its winding-down process, and resume plans to produce the new 9-5.

Hummer has been fairly newsworthy lately as General Motors has announced its plans to discontinue the SUV line and sell it off to a Chinese machinery manufacturer, and lately I've been dedicating a few blogs to the Hummer as GM plans to pull the plug on the Hummer brand. And as you may know I've become quite the fan of the popular BBC TV program "Top Gear." So I thought we'd have a little more fun with the blog with today's video featuring sharp-tongued host Jeremy Clarkson taking a spin in not one but … Read more
General Motors plans to open a $246 million factory in the U.S. to build electric motors for a hybrid vehicle platform due in three years.
Later this week, GM is expected to announce the location of the motor plant, which will be partially funded by a $105 million U.S. Department of Energy grant, company executives said on Monday. It says it's the first U.S. automaker to design and build its own motors.
The auto giant decided to make at least some of its electric motors, which move electrically driven Read moreand hybrids, because the technology is …
I'm sure by now most of you readers know that the Hummer brand was taken off of General Motors' hands by a heavy industrial machinery company in China, and that means that Hummer will no longer be produced by GM here in the United States. I suspect that a majority of readers here probably think that Hummer shouldn't let its ass hit the door on the way out, but there are a select few of us who appreciate the famous box on wheels for not just its easily recognizable style, but also for its ability to be styled … Read more
