Levi Strauss talking cell phones

Levi Strauss wants consumers to dial 501, not just wear it. Levi Strauss Europe will be launching a line of mobile phones and accessories based on the iconic jeans brand. The line, which will be available in Europe in 2007, will incorporate the jean company's signature denim and rivets, according to the company.

Levi signed an exclusive agreement with ModeLabs Group, which will manufacture and distribute the Levi's brand mobile products in Europe, ModeLabs Group CEO Stephane Bohbot said in a statement.

The devil wears laptops

Whoever said a laptop case had to look like, well, a laptop case? Obviously not the European arbiters of global fashion.

Spanish designer Marc Navarro is but the latest to apply a runway sensibility to the previously utilitarian business of computer casings, as Fosfor Gadgets points out. In fact, if one didn't know the designated contents of Navarro's new line, the cases might be mistaken for high-end handbags.

Besides, we're in favor of anything that replaces those tired bike messenger bags.

No need to unzip for your iPod

Form follows function in fashion, too, not just architecture. Or, more likely in this case, form follows the money that a function like this will rake in.

Designer extraordinaire Ermenegildo Zegna has announced the Zegna iJacket as part of its Spring 2007 ZegnaSport line. (The collection is not yet on the Zegna Web site.) The lightweight windbreaker, which will come in bomber or three-quarter length, has an inside breast pocket, connection for an iPod, and buttons on the left sleeve to let you control it without having to unzip the jacket.
