iPod-Chocolate love-hate saga, part deux

Awhile back we posted an item on a product that could have been the offspring of an iPod-Chocolate union, from a company that produces neither. But LG apparently had such romantic leanings already, for it has given birth to the lovingly named "UP3Flat," a screen-less Chocolate MP3 player that appears aimed at the iPod Shuffle market.

Our cousins at Crave UK describe it this way: "It's about the same size as a lighter and sports a sumptupuous 'piano-black' finish. Its silver volume buttons take the place of the red touch-sensitive navigation buttons on the Chocolate phone.&… Read more

Furnishings from Versailles' lesser-known 'Salon du Emo'

If Louis XIV had a MySpace page, a Web cam and iPod he would totally cry his eyes out in this chair.

I can hear him now: "Even though I totally distracted all the nobles by making them hang out at Versailles--finally--and have become the standard for any wannabe absolute monarch, I still feel like my people just don't get who I am. You know? I mean, I wish someone would just notice me as a regular guy with big hair who wears high heels, and not as, like, the quote-unquote Sun King."

Even if you're … Read more

All day and all of the night

Sure, the Internet is great for Holiday shopping in your bathrobe at 3 a.m., but sometimes you just feel like throwing on some shoes and doing a little real-life late-night shopping. Even in the Big Apple, 24-hour outlets are hard to find, and there are times you want something a little more upscale than the wares at your corner bodega--like maybe a new MacBook Pro.

Starting today, December 13, Apple's flagship SoHo store in New York will remain open 24 hours a day, until 11:59 p.m. on December 24 (the glass-box Fifth Avenue store is always … Read more

iGloves solve the Winter Click Wheel Dilemma

YES. YES. YES. This is what I have been looking for ever since temperatures started dropping this fall. You see, I'm a firm believer in the benefits of walking around outside as much as possible. If I have time to get there on foot, I'll walk. I take my iPod along for entertainment. And when it's cold, I bundle up. Easy enough, right?

Wrong. When it gets cold, for obvious reasons I wear gloves. But gloved hands can't operate iPod click wheels, so I find that too often I either forsake my beloved walking soundtrack or … Read more

Snoopy does the iPod

We admit it: We're suckers for Peanuts. Especially around the holidays, when we get to hear the Vince Guaraldi Trio everywhere. It's one of the few childhood memories we have that doesn't involve getting beaten up by our older brothers.

That's why we were happy to see Snoopy on this iPod Nano, rather than yet another gadget adorned by the evil Hello Kitty. Japan's Run-At, which makes various products for Disney as well, has released 1,000 of the limited-edition iPods for the second year in a row with the famed beagle wearing headphones etched … Read more

Annoy the world with this iPod case

Few cottage industries are as hyperactive as the iPod case business. And when you combine one with the irresistible urge for people to make public fools of themselves with their music, you may have a winner on your hands.

The "Blue Beatz" case may have found this unfortunate sweet spot with a protective shell that doubles as an amateur DJ device. As Chip Chick says, you can mix multiple tunes to play simultaneously for some undefined reason.

We speculate that this "feature" was really a mistake that the manufacturer is trying to turn into a marketing … Read more

iProjector could save your i-sight

Even those with perfect eyesight would get ocular fatigue trying to watch the small screens on most media players for extended periods. And for those of us who are legally blind without corrective lenses, it's almost impossible.

In these cases, the "iProjector" from Ion Audio is designed to prevent early bifocals by taking the video from your iPod and projecting it onto a screen of up to 30 by 90 inches, all the while charging your player. It will also work with a computer, DVD player or game console.

Ion claims 800-by-600-pixel resolution, but it remains to … Read more

Speakers that reach for the sky

Sometimes, it seems that iPod speaker makers are just trying to outdo each other with the tallest models they can get away with. (Not that we have anything against tall models.)

The "Philips Docking Entertainment System DCM270" appears to be entering the contest, though its dimensions have not yet been revealed. In fact, not much of anything about it has been revealed, other than that it will work with Philips' GoGear MP3 player as well as the iPod (big surprise). One thing we do know: Like the Intempo Digital's Stereo Tower, the Philips system is at least … Read more

This iPod holder gives that warm, fuzzy feeling

Here's yet another excuse to have those white headphones stuck in your ears: Wear your iPod Nano while flying down a snow-covered ski slope at death-defying speeds. It'll be like you're the star of your own extreme snowboard movie, complete with awesome soundtrack.

We brought you the iSoundCap hat a while ago, but it being, you know, cold outside now, there had to be another reason to sell an iPod holder, right? Of course.

The iSoundCap ski cap comes in red, white, black and kakhi, and is made of 100 percent acrylic. Though the idea of synthetic … Read more
