Game maker Popcap today revealed Plants vs. Zombies Adventures (PvZA) beta for Facebook, but gamers might be more interested in the mention of Plants vs. Zombies 2.
The social spinoff PvZA takes gardeners out of the backyard (the primary setting in the first game) and sends them on the road to fight off ravenous zombies. To freshen up gameplay, Popcap enhanced the title with new plants, zombies, and defenses, as well as the implementation of social features that include leaderboards and community challenges. … Read more
Think back to middle school. What was the most awesome class you took? Chances are you didn't have the opportunity to sign up for the most awesome junior high class ever conceived: zombie survival skills. Unfortunately, it turns out nobody will have the chance to complete the course.
Social studies teacher Rich Harshberger at Armand Larive Middle School in Hermiston, Ore., offered an extracurricular class in zombie survival skills. Once the school district found out, they put an end to it, much like Michonne taking her katana to a shuffling undead zombie on "The Walking Dead." Total bummer.… Read more
Call of Duty is as ubiquitous in modern gaming as any franchise, appearing and breaking sales records like clockwork every fall. For those who enjoy the cinematic styling of the franchise and the jaw-dropping graphics and multiplayer action, it is an event marked by days off work and countless hours with a controller in hand. So, it is no surprise to find a number of Call of Duty games in the App Store, nor the Call of Duty Zombies rendition (popular on the consoles as an add-on). And while the developers do a good job of moving many of the … Read more
If music can tame the savage beast, could the power of rock reduce brain-hungry zombies to purring kittens?
Guitar hacker Travis Stevens has made a significant contribution to collective self-defense against the coming zombie apocalypse. Along with zombie safe houses and survival kits, his Zombie Apocalypse Electric Guitar could prove a refuge and weapon of last resort.
This tribute to the rise of the undead is a reworked copy of a Fender Stratocaster, but it bears little resemblance to Strats you're used to. … Read more
Zombies are complicated. On the surface, they're just hapless undead who want to feast on your delicious brains. Underneath, they may actually be expressions of economic dissatisfaction or disappointment with the government. Or they may serve as community-building exercises.
People just can't seem to get enough of flesh-eating zombies (or maybe it's the other way around). These days, the fantasy of a modern society fighting off zombies appears in nearly every medium of visual entertainment. Michigan-based artist Matt Busch takes this concept to a whole new level in his Hollywood is Dead series of classic movie posters featuring an undead twist.
How did it all begin? Four years ago, Lucasfilm asked Busch to create six versions of the classic "Star Wars" posters with a little zombie flair. "While they [Lucasfilm] spawned the initial idea, the real joy for me that keeps me doing them is my love for movie posters," Busch told Crave. "I'm such a fan of the classic artists like Drew Struzan and Bob Peak. So to be able to study their work up close is a lot of fun for me. And then, yeah, ripping it to a bloody mess by giving it the zombie treatment is a guilty pleasure, too."… Read more
Resident Evil, this is not. This bad entry into the red-hot zombie fandom may be the worst of the bunch. With clunky controls, a terrible menu, and ad after ad, no true gamer is going to appreciate Zombie Sniper.
The game slams you with an ad or two before you even make it to the game's main menu. As if that weren't bad enough, the menu, each level, and just about every screen in the game is covered in ads. Even when you try to exit the game, you have to get through an ad first! Since all … Read more
Zombies are certainly all the rage now, with popular TV shows, games, and movies coming out left and right. Zombies Chasing tries to jump on that trend, but the constant barrage of ads and requests to purchase more coins mar this otherwise fun game.
When you first open Zombies Chasing, you're greeted with the Main Menu, which gives you access to the Mission page. This is where you can check off various goals the game has set for you, such as Ran 260 meters, Collected 200 coins, and so on. There is also a Shop for purchasing more coins. … Read more
The dead are so hot right now. Teen romance "Warm Bodies" was No. 1 in the box office a week ago, and "The Walking Dead" just broke a basic cable record for the most watched show at 12.3 million viewers.
Amid this undead fervor, the fertile, tasty brains of Montana's residents have fallen foul of a hoax alerting them that the dead have risen.
The emergency broadcast system was "hacked" and viewers of the "Steve Wilkos Show" got more than just teen cheaters when alerted that "dead bodies are rising from their graves."… Read more
