Is comparing iOS and console game totals fair?

Earlier today The Unofficial Apple Weblog posted a story comparing the number of games available for the iOS platform to the total amount of console games made in the last 25 years. To the surprise of no one, TUAW concluded that there are roughly three times as many iOS games than consoles titles. The comparison was done to demonstrate the "staggering size" of iOS' game library, but we're not sure the assessment is entirely fair.

The post has since been updated twice (as of 6 p.m. ET) with the author responding to user comments, exploring the … Read more

Sling webs and run for your life: iPhone apps of the week

As we close out a week that brought us a new line of iPods, an upgrade to the Apple TV, and news of several new features via iOS upgrades, we're pretty happy here at CNET to be on the eve of a three-day weekend. With the extra day of leisure in mind, I've decided to promote a couple of new (or new to iPhone) games that should give you plenty to do during downtime over the long weekend.

If your planned activities and this iPhone gaming duo don't fill up your long weekend, ponder this: as the reviews start to roll in about the latest devices from Apple next week, which will be the biggest hits (and misses)? Even with the low price point, can the Apple TV replace your cable connection? Is the new iPod Nano a welcome fashion accessory or a waste of a touch screen? Will your new smaller shuffle just end up in the wash? What do you think of adding video and FaceTime to the iPod Touch? Let me know what you think in the comments.

This week's apps include an action game with our favorite web slinger and a beautiful side-scrolling running game where your goal is to escape.… Read more

But in 2008 his body rejected that heart and at that time another transplant was out of the question.

Okeke now has what … Read more

New UI, features highlight McAfee 2010 suites

Security suite vendor McAfee debuts its 2010 product line today, introducing an overhauled interface and new features in a bid to remain competitive. The change to its interface is as dramatic a shift as the one that Avast introduced in its 2010 suites, although McAfee's look is drastically different from any major security program currently on the market. Most of the features in McAfee AntiVirus Plus, McAfee Internet Security, and McAfee Total Protection are not new, but the presentation is so radical that the improvements are likely to be glossed over. Users of older McAfee should note that VirusScan … Read more

The program's interface is plain and looks a lot like Windows Explorer.
