The latest evidence that Apple is ready to abandon its iconic dock connector in favor of a smaller solution comes in the form of a reference to a 9-pin connector in the code for iOS 6 beta.
The code string was uncovered by 9to5Mac and directly conflicts with several other reports of the possible size of a smaller dock connector. Reports of the number of pins in the new dock connector have ranged from as few as 8 to as many as 19 (or simply retaining the 30 it currently sports).
Important to keep in mind is the fact that … Read more
If Apple does, in fact, have a new plug in the bottom of its next iPhone, car kits, and other third-party accessories won't be left in the dust thanks to an adapter, according to a new report.
Citing the same sources that gave it the hint about a smaller, pill-shaped adapter earlier this year, iMore says Apple will have an adapter ready to go with the launch its next iPhone that lets the new plug work with the existing 30-pin accessories.
As iMore points out, Apple offered a similar adapter with the introduction of its newer MagSafe power technology … Read more
With no official Pinterest app yet available for Android, there are swathes of users itching to pin their much-loved items while on the go. Enter Fancy, an Android app for another visual cataloging site, TheFancy.com.
Just like the popular Pinterest service, Fancy is about saving pictures of the people, places, and things you love. You can search for items, scroll through recently Fancy'd items, or look through the lists of users you follow. It's … Read more
Internet Explorer users accustomed to working with Favorites will find life a bit different in the new Windows 8 Metro version of the browser.
The desktop flavor of IE10 still lets you create Favorites to manage your Web sites, but the Metro edition does away with such legacy options. Instead, you're given the option of pinning often-used Web sites, as described in a new Microsoft blog. Pinning a site places a tile for it on both the Metro Start screen and in the browser when you click in the address bar.

How soon that change is headed to a device is as unclear as ever though. iMore suggests it won't be the next iPad, but could be the next iPhone. … Read more

Google Wallet users might be wise to start getting a little nervous.
Yesterday, researchers outlined a complicated way to crack the Google Wallet PIN used to make purchases with the smartphone-based payment system. Now there's a new hack that could let a stranger gain access to the funds of Wallet users.
Described yesterday by blogging site The Smartphone Champ, the hack doesn't require extra software, root access, or any particular skills in general.
Instead, all someone apparently has to do it clear the data for the Google Wallet app in the smartphone's application settings menu. The app … Read more
How does a Web site like Pinterest make money? At least one blogger has found and revealed an apparent answer.
The online pinboard lets people share their interests and other "things they love" by pinning a photo or other image onto the site. Users can then respond to that pin by commenting on it, liking it, or re-pinning it as one of their own favorites.
