Sound ID's latest Bluetooth headset is called the Six, and it promises to be the company's most advanced headset yet.

Bluetooth headset pretends to be mini-phone

This Bluetooth headset allows you to make phone calls with your tablet without looking like a dork. The Mini Bluetooth Phone from Xmobile looks like a handset but doesn't actually make calls. Instead, it hooks up with any device with Bluetooth capabilities to make calls.

What sets these devices apart from your run-of-the-mill headsets are the LCD screen and keypad. The latter allows you to make calls without having to take out your tablet or phone, while the display shows the phone number or name of the caller. The rated standby time is 140 hours with a 7-hour talk time.

Available in two colors and designs, the BT001 (black) and BT002 (white) are currently available only in China with a $20 price tag.

The black, higher-end HM3700 comes with a set of … Read more

Looxcie wearable camera returns, looks improved

Remember the Looxcie? It was a $199 wearable camcorder/Bluetooth headset that launched last September that used your iPhone or Android smartphone as a viewfinder. It continuously recorded video at a resolution of 320p at 15 frames per second, and if something exciting happened, you pressed a button and it clipped the last 30 seconds and sent it off to Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube.

It was a cool idea done in by an awkward design, a disappointing user experience, and mediocre video results. It appears that the folks at Looxcie learned from the first go-round, though, as the Looxcie 2--at … Read more

Multiple consoles and gaming headsets: Ask the Editors

Hi Jeff,

I've read almost all your reviews about the gaming headsets that give you wireless surround sound, but there's a problem for us gamers who own more than one console. How do I hook up both my Xbox 360 and PS3 to one wireless gaming headset? Is it even possible?

Thanks, Paul, Chicago

Hi Paul,

Thanks for writing. Accomplishing this isn't impossible, but it's certainly an issue we think gaming headset manufacturers need to become more aware of. We've received dozens of similar questions with gamers anxious about having to finagle a way to get more than one source into a wireless gaming headset transmitter.

We'd love to see a device that allows for more than one digital input, though we are fans of Logitech's F540 system, which accepts up to three analog sources. However, if you're using something like the Turtle Beach X41s, Astro A40s, or Tritton AX 720s, you'll have to manually swap out the digital audio cables each time you want to switch consoles. Not only is this an arduous process, but if you're like me, most of these ports and wires are not conveniently accessible without some serious furniture moving.… Read more
