After a week-long delay caused by a patent spat with Apple, HTC's Evo 4G LTE will finally begin shipping to Sprint customers later this week.
The carrier made the announcement on a company blog this afternoon:
Customers who preordered HTC EVO 4G LTE...Your wait is almost over! Sprint expects to begin shipping HTC EVO 4G LTE for arrival on or around Thursday, May 24 to customers who pre-ordered the device online from Sprint. We will provide details on the full national launch as soon as possible.
Customers who pre-ordered HTC's Evo 4G LTE through Best Buy may have to wait a while for their phone to show up.
Best Buy has starting e-mailing customers to inform them that Sprint has changed the phone's release date. But the new date is as yet unknown, according to blog site Phandroid. As a result, the carrier can't even provide an estimate as to when the new Evo may ship.
According to an e-mail sent on behalf of Best Buy, the Sprint smartphone now has a release date of May 23, less than a week after its initial target date of May 18. AndroidCentral is reporting that both its forums and e-mail inbox "lit up" with news of the e-mail, and that things seem legitimate at first blush.
