Sprint to offer BlackBerry Curve 9350 Sept. 9 for $80

Well, that was quick. Earlier this morning, RIM introduced its new BlackBerry Curve and now, the entry-level smartphone has its first U.S. carrier.

Sprint just announced that it will offer the BlackBerry Curve 9350 starting September 9 for $79.99 with a two-year contract and after a $50 mail-in rebate, while Sprint business customers may qualify to get the handset for $49.99 on a business account.

The Curve 9350 is a CDMA-only device, so you won't get world-roaming capabilities, but the BlackBerry OS 7 smartphone does offer a 2.44-inch, 480x360-pixel display, an 800MHz processor, a 5-megapixel … Read more

Microsoft keyboard throws curve at ergonomic design

The latest addition to Microsoft's family of ergonomic input devices, the Comfort Curve 3000, shows that Microsoft still sees value in iterating in this product niche. While Logitech's ergo keyboard ambitions have seemingly been satisfied by its 2-year-old Wireless Keyboard K350, the Comfort Curve 3000 offers a fairly substantial departure from the Comfort Curve 5000 and 2000 designs.

The new model is curved along a more severe arc than Microsoft's previous keyboard. Its uniformly sized keys should help minimize the initial awkwardness we felt with the older Comfort Curve designs. It also incorporates a slightly elevated portion in the middle of the keyboard, which can help minimize joint pressure. We can't confirm whether those features will offer tangible physiological benefits to everyone who uses the new keyboard, but you can also find out with relatively little risk when the Comfort Curve 3000 goes on sale in August for $19.99.… Read more

Rumor: iPhone 5 may use curved glass screen

The latest news to hit the iPhone 5 rumor mill is that Apple's next smartphone may sport a curved glass screen, similar to the one found on the iPod Nano 4G.

This latest report comes from Taiwan's DigiTimes. Citing industry sources, DigiTimes reported today that Apple has bought 200 or 300 glass-cutting machines to be used by glass makers, who are apparently hesitant to invest in the expensive equipment on their own.

To no surprise, no time frame has been released yet as to when the iPhone 5 may ramp up production, as DigiTimes says that Apple is … Read more

BlackBerry Curve Touch in the works?

CrackBerry recently released a few leaked photos of what looks like a BlackBerry Curve Touch. Indeed, it's quite Storm-like in appearance, with no keyboard in sight. According to the specs, the CDMA version will have an 800MHz Qualcomm MSM8655 processor, a 3.25-inch HVGA screen, a 5-megapixel camera with HD video, 1GB storage with microSD slot, 512MB of RAM, GPS, and NFC support.

These specs aren't really nailed down yet, but this sounds about right. We have to say we're not too thrilled about it--we tend to think BlackBerrys should stick to the physical keyboard--but maybe … Read more

Android has surged ahead of Apple for the first time as the most popular smartphone OS, according to Millennial Media's mobile ad network.

Rounding up the rest of the competition, Research In Motion's BlackBerry OS grabbed 16 percent of ad impressions in December, Nokia's Symbian nabbed 2 percent, and … Read more

CES: OtterBox intros Reflex Series for iPhone 4

Expanding on its line of rugged cases for the iPhone 4, OtterBox unveiled its new Reflex Series case here at CES.

The company says the case was "inspired by the crumple zone of a car" and combines two materials--polycarbonate and TPE rubber--to form an "unprecedented" single-layer concept. We're not sure exactly what that all means, but the company claims the case recoils and springs back, "ready to protect again and again."

If that wasn't enough to sell you, OtterBox's marketing team adds that "a cushion of air" surrounds the … Read more
