NASCAR stars take a ride in updated Dodge Challenger

At the end of this last weekend's activity in and around the Carfax 250 in Michigan, Dodge president and CEO Mike Accavitti officially declared that the car manufacturer was dedicated to contributing vehicle and automotive technology to NASCAR. Although economic crises and bankruptcy have made it ideal for Dodge to scale back their resources and direct contributions to the sport, Dodge maintains that they will continue to represent within the arguably biggest auto racing league in the world.

Currently, Dodge backs two multicar teams in NASCAR - Penske Championship Racing and Richard Petty Motorsports. Three stars who are and/… Read more

Felipe Massa's Career-Threatening crash at Hungarian Grand Prix

Jimmie Johnson's victory at the Autism Speaks 400 wasn't the only big news coming from the racing world two weekends ago. The FIA Formula One World Championship held its annual Hungarian Grand Prix that same weekend, and while Lewis Hamilton picked up his first win of the 2009 season at this race, perhaps the biggest news concerned the horrific accident that befell Brazilian F1 driver Felipe Massa on July 25 while attempting to qualify for this championship race.

I was only able to locate one web video of the accident, and while it isn't of the highest … Read more

15-year-old wins LG's national texting championship

Fifteen-year-old Kate Moore won LG's third annual U.S. National Texting Championship this week. The contest finals were held in New York Tuesday, and Moore won $50,000 as well as a free LG enV3. Moore, who's from Des Moines, Iowa, attributes her success to her 14,000-texts-a-month habit.

The contest required entrants to perform a series of challenges, like texting while blindfolded and texting while going through an obstacle course. The final showdown had both finalists text three long phrases without any mistakes. However, all tasks were done with an LG enV3, which has a full QWERTY … Read more

Girl survives rude emoticon, becomes texting queen

Here's a thought that might numb more than just your fingers.

About 250,000 people entered the LG National Texting Championship, which concluded Tuesday. Yes, a quarter of a million people wanted to prove that they could text faster, more accurately, and ignore more distractions. Like insulting emoticons.

The winner, you will find it difficult to accept, was a 15-year-old girl. Her name is Kate Moore. She is from Iowa. And amid her boundless joy, she told the Associated Press: "Let your kid text during dinner! Let your kid text during school! It pays off."

Oh, Lordy. … Read more

Silver Crown Championship Racing

As we have seen throughout this week, the United States Auto Club incorporates and sanctions a variety of racing styles, series, and events. Today's blog looks at yet another exciting division of USAC racing--the K & N National Silver Crown Championship.

This is a video from a race practice at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix--a mainstay venue of the Silver Crown Series. The audience gets a center stage view of the cars as the copper meets dirt and the cars … Read more

A look at World Rally Championship history

I hope you've enjoyed all of this week's video of amazing World Rally Championship racing. I thought a good way to close this series would be this tribute video dedicated to the history of WRC and how it's changed throughout the years--how the cars have changed, and it even includes historical data at the end detailing what cars have won the title and in which year. It's great for knowledge hounds as well as anybody who just wants to see some fine automobiles kickin' up dust and sliding on the asphalt.

Blast from the Past: 1979 World Rally Championship

So far this week we've enjoyed World Rally Championship video from the current millennium. I think it's time we took a look at some historic footage from WRC past, 1979 to be exact. As the Beatles would say, "It was 20 years ago today..." (Well, it wasn't 20 years to the date, but I try not to miss a chance to make a silly pop culture reference.)

This Web video appears to be taken from a television broadcast of WRC, with its outdated TV graphics showing the drivers and vehicles. Here we got everything from … Read more

Best of World Rally Championship - 2008

Earlier this week, I presented web video that contained highlights from the beginning of the current season of World Rally Championship. Since the current season is still underway, I thought instead I'd give you a great compilation of highlights from the 2008 season of WRC.

The footage was taken from many of the best rallies of 2008 such as Stagione Rally 2008, Rally Ciocchetto 2008, Ronde di Natale 2008, Apollo Tribute, and International Rally Cups from Rally del Taro 2008 and Rally degli Abeti 2008. Ten minutes of fast cars, twists and turns, and plenty of smoke and dust. … Read more

Rally Argentina 2009

As we are in the middle of the 2009 World Rally Championship series, today I present you with footage from the most recent WRC series, Rally Argentina, which took place in April 2009. The video begins with footage taken from a higher elevation, and about halfway through the vid you get a front row view from roadside as the cars whizz by and the dust flies from the gravel. Oh, and in case you're wondering...the winner of this series was Sebastian Loeb. Woo hoo!
