Lewis Hamilton wins 2009 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix

The 2009 Formula 1 SingTel Singapore Grand Prix has come and gone over this past weekend, and what an exciting race it turned out to be. Noted F1 driver Lewis Hamilton (the 2008 F1 champion and boyfriend to super hottie Nicole Scherzinger of Pussycat Dolls fame) in his McLaren-Mercedes went from pole to checkered flag to win the race, followed by Timo Glock and Fernando Alonso finishing at the 2nd and 3rd spots respectively. To be fair, close rival Sebastian Vettel committed a white line penalty out of the pit which helped Hamilton secure the victory, but all things considered … Read more

SingTel Singapore Grand Prix: A Preview in Pictures

In 2008, FIA Formula One World Championship reintroduced the Singapore Grand Prix to its legions of fans after years of inactivity. Despite this fact, the race that takes place at the scenic Marina Bay in Singapore has a history that dates back to the mid 1960s. In fact, a lot of the appeal of this particular F1 event is its course that runs around the picturesque Marina Bay area vicinity, and also because of its night race that takes place amid the bay's incredible visuals. And with that said, this is the very reason I have selected this particular … Read more

McLaren reveals ultralight MP4-12C supercar

McLaren has released photos and details of the McLaren MP4-12C, the automaker's first supercar since the iconic McLaren F1 was launched 17 years ago, not counting the models built in partnership with other automakers.

The McLaren MP4-12C (or just 12C for short) is an all-new model from McLaren with "no carryover parts from any other car." In plain English, that means there are no Mercedes-Benz components, contrary to early rumors. What the 12C does have is a laundry list of interesting performance technologies, including an innovative Pre-Cog shifter tech that we think will breathe new life into dual-clutch, automated, manual transmissions.

Make the jump for more details and glossy photos.… Read more

Ferrari reveals F1-inspired 458 Italia interior

We're still drooling over the last batch of photos and details of the Ferrari 458 Italia, but Ferrari has released even more info leading up to the supercar's official unveiling at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show, including shots of the interior.

Of particular interest is the F1-inspired steering wheel which takes all of the controls most often accessed by the driver and relocates them to the steering wheel's face. Gone are the stalks for turn signals, headlamps, and windshield wipers. In their place are thumb actuated buttons. Also on the wheel are buttons for cycling through the … Read more

Lewis Hamilton vs. Felipe Massa for the Formula One Championship

A couple of weekends ago at the 2009 Hungarian Grand Prix, two Formula One race car drivers made headlines, but for very different reasons. Reigning F1 Champion Lewis Hamilton chalked up his first victory of the 2009 season by finishing first at the race, and Felipe Massa suffered a career-threatening crash and injury that has pretty much ended his hope for a world title this season. I've blogged about these subjects in greater depth (i.e., more depth than I've written in this specific blog) earlier this week, so I'll spare you the repeat (and since some … Read more

Lewis Hamilton: Formula 1 Champion

Back in the last weekend of July, Brazilian race car driver Felipe Massa suffered horrific injuries that hopefully will not mark the end of his career. However, all was not bad news coming from the 2009 Hungarian Grand Prix, as reigning Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton scooped up his first win of the 2009 F1 season.

Try as I did, I was unsuccessful in finding a compelling web video of Lewis Hamilton's victory in Budapest. However, I found a really cool web video compilation of highlights from Hamilton's very successful 2008 F1 season, all set to a blazing … Read more

Felipe Massa's Better Days: Victory at Turkish Grand Prix 2008

As some of you already know (either by my blog from yesterday or from other sports news sites), Formula 1 race car driver Felipe Massa suffered a nearly lethal crash at the 2009 Hungarian Grand Prix due to a freak accident - a random car part coming off another vehicle which subsequently hits Massa in the head, leaving him temporarily unconscious. Well, Felipe's racing career hasn't been all bad; in fact, he had an impressive year racing for Formula 1 in 2008 where he garnered 6 wins and finished in 2nd place in the overall standings. (Coincidentally, the … Read more

Felipe Massa's Career-Threatening crash at Hungarian Grand Prix

Jimmie Johnson's victory at the Autism Speaks 400 wasn't the only big news coming from the racing world two weekends ago. The FIA Formula One World Championship held its annual Hungarian Grand Prix that same weekend, and while Lewis Hamilton picked up his first win of the 2009 season at this race, perhaps the biggest news concerned the horrific accident that befell Brazilian F1 driver Felipe Massa on July 25 while attempting to qualify for this championship race.

I was only able to locate one web video of the accident, and while it isn't of the highest … Read more
