Ice cream is more than a blank canvas upon which to heap different flavors. The fact that the cold treat can be enjoyed with flavors ranging from the mundane to the exotic certainly helps to make ice cream tempting to all (and the sweet taste doesn't hurt, either), but the variety of styles it can be served in also contributes to its appeal. Also, it goes good with a tune.
The kitchen countertop has become a landscape where anything can happen. Populated with appliances of all shapes and sizes, the one central area has become a place where potential gets turned into delicious meals every day. However, all that deliciousness comes at a cost that extends beyond the checkout line at the supermarket; as every home chef knows, space is always an issue.
Convenience on the countertop comes in many forms. But that doesn't mean it cannot come in one form. The Cuisinart CBO-1000 Oven Central is an all-in-one countertop appliance that can cook up a variety of meals … Read more
For some, there is always room for dessert. Meanwhile, for the more savory-inclined, hamburgers and hot dogs may be the more eternally available option. The two meat-in-a-bun products may have always gotten along splendidly, but that doesn't mean there has always been enough room for the two.
The Cuisinart GC-15 Griddler Compact Grill Centro is the smaller version of the previously covered Cuisinart GC-17 Grill Centro grilling behemoth. The diminutive device measures 15.7 inches across and is 10 inches deep. With a height of only 5.6 inches, the little indoor-grill-that-could is well suited for any countertop where … Read more
All these years later, we here at Crave are still driving around at 3 in the morning (is it still 3 in the morning?) with the mad munchies eyeing the all-night gas stations and closed supermarkets and looking for that WonderPizza vending machine we heard so much about back in '07.
Honestly, with our stomachs growling maniacally as they have been for the last 39 months or so, we've been considering bagging the pie and grabbing a kosher hot dog, a piece of raw meat, or even a pair of socks to eat. Whichever vending machine appears first.
Ah, but it looks like there's hope. The smartphone we picked up at that last vending machine we encountered -- the smartphone we've so far refrained from eating -- tells us that another company promises to bring pizza vending machines to the States. And judging from the video (embedded below), the resulting pies might not be entirely revolting.… Read more
Barbecuing is an outdoor activity. Some might call it a sport. There are certainly enough competitions that one could easily view it as such. Considering some of the hunks of meat that end up on the grill, it also is not difficult to see barbecuing as being a strenuous activity. Fishing is also said to be a sport (or at least it has its competitive elements). Therefore, it only makes sense to put a grill on a boat.
Do you upload mouthwatering pictures on Instagram, where they then get lost in millions of similar photos tagged "#foodporn"?
Here's some food for thought: You may be better off "Burppling." The Singapore-based creators of the iOS app Burpple intend it to be a social food journal -- an Instagram of sorts, only for food.
It seems to have the potential to be as popular as Instagram, even though it was only launched in 39 countries, including the U.S., Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Australia, on May 8. The creators claim that "during the few weeks of open beta [in Singapore], Burpple saw similar early-stage user activity" as Instagram.
A portmanteau of "burp" and "people," Burpple is all about connecting food and people. Users document their meals by uploading photos with information such as place, type, and time. Food moments can be classified into "boxes," which are really customizable tags (this writer would have a box catered solely to potato chips). … Read more
Once upon a time, somebody somewhere discovered that jabbing a hot dog with a skewer, coating it with batter, and then deep-frying it would be a delicious alternative to a bun. As history has shown, that genius individual was certainly correct.
Corn dogs just paved the way for what lay ahead in the future. Now, at every fair across the country, it is possible to get food items of every shape and variety clinging to an easy-to-carry stick. However, no longer must we wait for summer to enjoy all that food-on-a-stick can goodness. Now, all that deliciousness can be no … Read more
Ice cream is, and always has been fun. It's hard to see that changing any time soon. With a sweet taste and an abundance of available flavors, the cold treat offers something for everybody. However, a well-stocked freezer is only a start. Ice cream may be fun, so it only seems right that it deserves being served in something other than a boring bowl.
Moving beyond the basic bowl, the Nostalgia Electrics MSM-200 Waffle Cone & Ice Cream Sandwich Maker sprinkles in a new layer of fun to the ice cream experience. Combining freshly-made goodness with endless customization, the … Read more
