Maserati Quattroporte: Statistically proven chick magnet!

I was flipping through the channels the other night, and I saw an episode of that ridiculous but entertaining show "MANswers" on Spike TV--the show that supposedly covers such profound questions that only "real guys" care about including "what's the quickest way to get drunk?" and "is it possible to freeze a fart and smell it later?". Anyway, this particular episode had a segment that set out to answer the age-old question "what car makes chicks the horniest?"--a question that your average Joe on the street would like … Read more

One good in-dash iPad deserves another

Remember the world's first in-dash iPad from last week? Well, the guys over at SoundMan Car Audio are at it again. This time, they're modding a place for Apple's slate into the dashboard of a Nissan Maxima.

Last time, the installers planned to utilize an aftermarket pre-amp and amplifier setup. For this go-round, they've opted to run the iPad's audio out through a double-DIN Kenwood eXcelon receiver's auxiliary input to power the speakers. This way, they get all of the benefits of having the iPad in-dash, but still have a variety of audio sources … Read more

Restoring the engine on a 1937 BMW 328 Roadster

I love checking out car restorations and seeing what some people are doing to their old-school rides. Well it doesn't get much more old school than this: a 1937 BMW 328 Roadster, and in Wednesday's blog post we got to see and hear about the work that was being done by Black Horse Garage to improve the body shell. In today's clip we join up with the Black Horse gang to see what work they are doing to the engine, and it should be quite interesting.

This video begins with a Black Horse Garage tech checking out … Read more

Metal fabrication on the 1937 BMW 328 Roadster

In yesterday's post we learned that part of the historic significance of the legendary 1937 BMW 328 Roadster was that the car's engineers (who had previously worked on post WWI airplane technology) had designed the would-be touring vehicle with unforeseen lightweight chassis that reportedly weighed roughly 800 kilograms. This statistic, which allowed for maximum performance on less petrol, helped the 328 become one of the hottest race vehicles of its time period.

And for today's video clip, I found a very recent clip (from just two days ago!) of what the 328 Roadster's body shell looks … Read more

GM gears EN-V for urban environments

The first time we saw General Motors' EN-V concept vehicle was a couple of weeks ago when it was unveiled in Shanghai, China.

In this YouTube video, Chris Borroni-Bird, director of EN-V program, explains how GM designed the vehicle to change the way urban dwellers get around the city.

EN-V's platform evolved from the Personal Urban Mobility and Accessibility prototype that  Segway developed--it even looks like a Segway in a bubble. Segway and GM partnered to develop and deliver multiple copies of the drivetrain platform that seamlessly connect to and power the various EN-Vs, according to a GM … Read more

History, technology of BMW's 328 Roadster

In yesterday's blog, I wrote about the 1937 BMW 328 MM Roadster, a rare classic car that will be up for auction at the RM Auctions' upcoming event in Monaco on May 1. With that in mind, today's clip is all about the history and technology behind the making of the famous BMW 328.

This car, conceived in 1936, was designed to be … Read more
