The iPhone 5S' camera has passed muster with National Geographic.
Photographer Jim Richardson of National Geographic -- famous for its dramatic covers -- traded his Nikon for an iPhone 5S in a visit to Scotland, according to a story posted on Monday.
"With intense use (I've made about 4,000 pictures in the last four days) I've discovered that the iPhone 5S is a very capable camera," he wrote.

If Apple really had inspired a religious following, Jonathan Zufi would be its high priest.
On his Web site, ShrineofApple.com, Zufi has collected thousands of high-quality images of nearly every Apple product ever made. He did so as a tribute to the company that inspired him and countless others growing up during the advent of personal computing.
The goal is to catalog every single one of those Apple devices, a mission Zufi has been on since 2009 that has turned out roughly 150,000 photos and found the 42-year-old Australian native purchasing more than 500 Apple products. … Read more

Misek didn't reveal exactly what triggered his prediction, but he did note that the new screen size would drive a huge number of upgrades. … Read more
An Apple iWatch may not be a huge revenue booster but it could still capture as many as 10 million customers.
Based on a Piper Jaffray survey of 799 US consumers, analyst Gene Munster believes Apple could sell between 5 million and 10 million smartwatches during the initial launch year. The recent poll asked people whether they would buy a $350 iWatch that can connect to an iPhone.
At first glance, the survey results don't seem to bode well. Among iPhone owners polled, only 12 percent said they'd be interested in buying an Apple iWatch, leaving 88 percent … Read more
In fact, one of the early demos was so clunky that its description conjures up images of the first, massive mainframe computers, instead of the slick handset-computers Apple eventually introduced in July 2007.
In a long magazine piece published online Friday in The New York Times, then-Apple executive Tony Fadell recalled Steve Jobs showing him an early example of the phone's eventual touch-screen technology in mid-2005:"He said: 'Tony, come over here. Here's something we're working on. What do … Read more
