Krzr to come to Cingular

If you're a Cingular customer who's crazy over Motorola's Krzr K1, it appears you may not have to wait much longer for the thin handset. Though the carrier has made no official announcement regarding the phone's availability, an eagle-eyed Crave reader recently reported that the phone was featured in a Cingular ad in the November 30 issue of Rolling Stone. The ad was equally mum on a release date, but when I called a local Cingular store, an employee told me it wouldn't be available until next year.

Yes, it's all a bit mysterious, … Read more

Bluetooth on board

Verizon Wireless launched a variant of its Motorola V235 that will please Bluetooth geeks. The Motorola V325i is nearly identical to its namesake in both features and design but it adds Bluetooth for connecting to a headset. But keep in mind that since this is a Verizon phone other Bluetooth profiles will be limited. Also, we're puzzled that the V325i has far less shared memory than the V325. Yes, 30MB is decent but 64MB is better. The V325i is a reasonable $30 with service.

Tattoo your laptop, don't toss it

Not feeling Denise Richards-style laptop rage? Not down for paying to promote a TLC show on your tech? Here's how to give your laptop some custom love thanks to Craft magazine's blog.

I'm dying to try this, but sadly, I don't think I'll be able to find any Sharpie color that will show up against my old-school black IBM laptop. White (read: Apple) laptop owners only need apply. (Did anyone else think they were hip enough, anyway?)

Sprint launches first hybrid cell phone

Sprint today formally launched the Motorola ic502, the first dual-mode CDMA/iDEN cell phone. As we told you two weeks ago, the iC502 will operate on Sprint's CDMA network for voice calls, then switch to Nextel's iDEN network for push-to-talk (PTT) conversations. The feature set includes all the normal Nextel offerings including integrated GPS, Direct Talk and Direct Send support, a speakerphone, and compatibility for Java applications. Bluetooth is conspicuously absent, however, and with no camera or EV-DO support, the ic502 promises to be all work and no play. From the Sprint side, the handset will support the … Read more

Sprint Nextel launches Motorola i880

By launching the Motorola i880 today, Sprint Nextel proves that all work and no play make a dull cell phone user. Offering a 2-megapixel camera, an MP3 player, and external music controls, the i880 has a bit more pizzazz than previous Nextel models, while still offering the same business-friendly accoutrements customers of the carrier have come to expect. The bulky design also is signature Nextel, while the eggplant-like color adds a bit of style. On the downside, the internal memory is small and music quality is so-so, but overall it's a quality addition to Nextel's lineup. You can … Read more

Sprint launches Razr, Krzr

It's taken them a long time, but Sprint has finally decided that the still-popular Motorola Razr is a must-have. Today the carrier put on sale its signature versions of the Motorola Razr V3m and the Motorola Krzr K1m. Both handsets should share the same basic feature set and design as their Verizon counterparts, but Sprint promises that its exclusive Power Vision programming will be a strong differentiator. The Razr V3m is $49.99 with service, while the Krzr is a pricier $199 with service. Sprint already offers the special-edition red Razr V3m.

Though the Razr family is beginning to … Read more

A Motorola in-car radio? You cannot be Sirius

Motorola's designers have been busy creating products that appeal to drivers. First we reported on the Moto T605 music and hands-free system that lets drivers stream audio files wirelessly from their Bluetooth 2.0-enabled cell phones and MP3 players. And now, Motorola is launching iRadio--its own music subscription service that looks like a cross between iTunes and satellite radio.

iRadio enables owners of select Motorola devices equipped with the stereo Bluetooth profile (such as the Motorola Q) to compile their own commercial-free playlists of songs from an online database and then use their mobile devices to stream the music … Read more

Cingular unveils the Motorola V365

A new Motorola phone appeared on Cingular's Web site today without a formal peep from either company. The Motorola V365 is a triband (GSM 850/900/1900) handset that also supports EDGE data speeds and Cingular's push-to-talk network.

Other features are midlevel and based largely on the phone's predecessor, the Motorola V360. Inside is a speakerphone, a VGA camera with video, Bluetooth, a digital music player, text and multimedia messaging, support for POP3 e-mail, voice dialing, and a wireless Web browser. The V365's flip phone design looks rather ordinary as Moto handsets go, but it offers … Read more

New Razr-sharp smart phone in the works?

Hey little Glofiish, better enjoy your 15 minutes of fame while you can because it appears another slim smart phone is in the works. CrunchGear has a story about a rumored Linux-based Motorola Razr smart phone and while details are scarce, there is a fuzzy slide show image of the mobile. Yes, I'm about as tired of the Razr craze as the next person. But add the smart phone capabilities and I'm willing to listen, especially if it rocks a flip phone form factor because in all honesty, the Cingular 3125 really didn't do it for me.… Read more

Motorola weds Sprint and Nextel

In addition to its Razr announcements today, Motorola formally unveiled its first dual-mode iDEN/CDMA handset. The Motorola ic502 will operate on Sprint's CDMA network for voice calls, then switch to Nextel's iDEN network for push-to-talk (PTT) conversations. Other features appear to be slim, but the handset should offer a speakerphone, basic organizer functions, and compatibility for 1xRTT data networks. The design doesn't look too impressive, but it promises the trademark Nextel durability. We don't have pricing and availability at the moment, but we'll report back when we get that info.

Motorola also took the … Read more
