Ubuntu OS coming to smartphones

Thursday's CNET Update is disturbed:

Rumors come and go quickly in the tech world. A report from TechCrunch stirred up rumors that Apple was planning on buying the navigation app Waze. But CNET has learned that Apple has no plans to acquire Waze. It wasn't a radical idea, since Apple already works with Waze as a partner for Apple's mapping software.

Apple is, however, addressing a bug in the Do Not Disturb feature of iOS 6. The company said it won't be fixed until January 7. Do Not Disturb will silence incoming calls, alerts and notifications … Read more

But cars with many different brands on their trunks came through this year, delivering great CNET ratings in a variety of price categories; though, of course, pricey cars do tend to have an advantage.

So if you want to see the year that was in cars and tech, sit back and enjoy this … Read more

Best of the best from this year in Crave

It's been an eventful year here at Crave, what with the discovery of Dungeons & Dragons dice from the Ptolemaic Period; the strange tail of the robotic butt; a ship that flips over on purpose, and cow lady-parts that text farmers when it's time for a booty call.

Our retrospective gallery below gives you just a small sense of the mind-bending stories we encountered in our 2012 travels. Among the stories that grabbed your attention most (as judged by traffic and reader comments), we've got jaunts to remote geeky destinations in New Mexico, a trip aboard a giant Lego spaceship, and a look at a zombie-proof safe house. … Read more

CNET TV blooper reels 2012

Sadly, we are not perfect here at CNET TV. We are not all well-oiled machines that can perfectly reel off product names like the Insignia NS-55E480A13A LED TV without tripping up.

Through the magic of editing, the videos you see every day here at CNET paint an illusion of effortless expertise -- but it's a lie. These videos are a constant struggle. The best we can hope for is that one of our flubs, stutters, and hissy fits might be funny enough to make it into our year-end blooper reel.

So here you have it, our annual collection of … Read more
