AT&T saves some trees

AT&T has dropped its ridiculously long iPhone bills that quickly became a laughingstock of the cell phone industry. Customers with now get a summary bill that will run about three pages. Full statements will details of each phone call and data transfer will continue to be available on AT&T's Web site.

LG Fusic: Not for me, but maybe for my kids.

The LG Fusic sure isn't your corporate executive's cell phone, but for the younger market it's quite nice.

It's compact, looks attractive and 3G makes getting everything quick and easy. Sprint's Power Vision and On Demand kick in along with the music (hence the name) to make this definitely a fun phone. The micro SD card lets you store enough tunes to last you for days. Opening the clamshell is far easier than most, and the call reception is excellent.

In the comments of a previous post, the Macalope was chastised for not "keeping it real" since his move to CNET (to paraphrase Merlin Mann, there goes my former biggest fan ever... again).

You'll have to appreciate the position the horned one is in. In this case, the devil wears 24k gold

Just for the record, iPods aren't the only gadgets that can be covered in diamonds or dipped in gold. GeekSugar says Amosu, which gave us the gold iPod, has veered beyond Apple products and applied its 24k gilding brush to LG's Prada phone for just under $1,000.

Porsche's phone ready for starting flag

Considering how much publicity is given to high-profile phones these days, it's surprising that more hasn't been said about Porsche's entry into the handset race. That all could change soon, however, as the phone's launch apparently isn't too far off.

Pocket-lint says the 3G mobile handset will make its U.K. debut in November, sporting a touch screen, a 3.2-megapixel camera, an MP3 player and, as we reported earlier, fingerprint-recognition security. Perhaps most impressive, Porsche's "concierge service" will handle any issues to arise with the handset.

Nokia 6085: good for calling, not for multimedia

Despite what you may be thinking the Nokia 6085 is not a simple AT&T copy of the Nokia 6086. Though the two phones look a lot alike, the 6085 lacks the 6086's Wi-Fi support and it comes in four sparkling colors. This interestingly named program for iPhone is one of the better apps we've found for searching multiple popular sites for news and information feeds. An intuitive interface lets you quickly search the latest headlines at CNN, New York Times, Digg, BBC News, Engadget, and many others. Results show up with headlines and short blurbs before you go to the full story.
