Aliph has just announced the Aliph Jawbone Prime, the successor to the highly acclaimed Aliph Jawbone 2 from last year. The Prime sports almost the same design as the Jawbone 2, except it has a dimpled loop pattern on the surface and a slight dip on the front to indicate the multifunction Talk button.

Report: Britain's prime minister backs efforts to combat piracy

Gordon Brown, Britain's prime minister, is backing efforts by copyright holders to combat digital piracy and protect premium content on the Web, according to reports.

"We need to support the creation and availability of high-quality content," Brown said Friday as he addressed an audience at the Digital Britain Summit in London, according to a report on news site BrandRepublic.com. "We will support the legal framework that enables the private sector to create content."

According to other sites covering the summit, Gordon didn't outline plans on how his government intended to do that.

Vonage founder brings top TV shows to one Web site

Jeff Pulver, the Vonage founder, wants to make viewing online video much more like traditional TV.

Now, to change channels online you have to jump between the Web sites of the different broadcasters and networks. But PrimeTimeRewind.Tv, a company Pulver co-founded, enables visitors to watch shows from such outlets as NBC, ABC, and TNT and on one site. The site launched this week.

Pulver is able to do this by accessing the embed codes that each of the networks provides for their video. No more keying in numerous URLs, filling out multiple registrations or downloading different clients.

Canon preps two high-end telephoto lenses

SLR leader Canon announced Monday it's developing two high-end image-stabilized telephoto lenses, the EF 200mm f/2L IS USM and the EF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM.

The company is showing prototypes of the lenses at the PhotoPlus Expo in New York, but didn't release any price and availability information. Both are "L"-grade lenses, higher-priced models designed with better optics, weatherproofing and durability.
