Crave 17: Shiny things with future features (podcast)

After a brief hiatus, the Cravers are back on task and in full form. We couldn't resist starting off the episode with a little love for the MP3 Insider of yesteryear; new iPods are the hot topic this time around, and Jasmine has some very strong feelings about one of them. Also this week, military backpacks are looking heavier and heavier these days, an HDR video demonstration freaks us out, and a telepresence robot is a bit too douchey for Eric's liking. Plus, it turns out that manta rays have kleptomaniac tendencies and Mario's pretty pissed about turning 25. And it wouldn't be a show without some man-meat to cap it all off.

Digital City 96: In-studio helicopter flight; Halo: Reach goodies; and the latest in pseudoscience

In this week's action-packed episode, we engage in a little live Halo: Reach multiplayer  action, finding out in the process that none of us is particularly good at this sort of thing.

Then, Joey attempts to pilot a remote control helicopter around the confines of our broom-closet-size studio. Hilarity ensues, as does some small amount of danger.

After showing off some new minilaptops from Toshiba and Sony, Scott tells us about the FanVision handheld device being hawked by NFL teams (including his beloved Jets). Finally, we hold our heads in collective disbelief over the upcoming "Galileo was Wrong" pseudoscience conference, being held later this fall. Yes, that's a real thing, not some sort of Onion-like prank.

Crave 16: Where my baby daddy? (podcast)

It may not be a creepy Kaspar baby, but the lead item on today's show is its very own brand of disturbing: a belly band that plays music to an unborn child. It's not the product that bothers Donald and Jasmine, though...it's the eerily happy mother and absentee dad. Also this week: a fan-tastic subwoofer, a new MP3 player that is not a phone, and some sweet street art in Portland, Ore., that Mario-loving cyclists are sure to appreciate. Plus, we get some viewer feedback and sort of drool over this week's heart attack-inducing foodstuff.

Digital City 95: AMD kills ATI, Apple event predictions, and video game pottery

We're down a man this week, as Joey calls in with back problems--but the rest of us are on hand to discuss this week's hot topics. The hottest of which may be Apple's upcoming September 1 press event, and we all weigh in with allegedly thoughtful predictions on what new iPods and other gadgets may show up.

Then it's time for a moment of silence as we mourn the death of the ATI brand, with its corporate parent reportedly planning to tag the company's future graphics cards with the AMD brand name instead.

Among the wackier technology antics we look at this week--a collection of pottery figures inspired by the hit casual game Plants vs. Zombies, and a quick visit to a Chicago coffee shop with a pretty sweet pop culture collectible--a full-size model Delorean car from the "Back to the Future" film series.

Crave 15: Oceanic seduction (podcast)

Crave's on fire this week with plenty of pseudo-inappropriate comments that may make you think you're listening to that other CNET podcast. But don't fret: We keep things just this side of decent with a hand-crank car driven by a beatnik (to new age dance music, no less), a super awesome garbage can made from repurposed trash, and an adorably annoying alarm clock that is will provide endless drunken entertainment at your next party. Things start to go a little off the deep end when we take a look at a flash drive preloaded with porn and wax poetic about a unique boat that--as Eric so aptly notes--"unzips the pants of the ocean." Finally, this week's fat-inducing food mashup disgusts Jasmine so much that she almost drops an F-bomb.

Digital City 94: Why isn't cable TV dead yet? Plus, laser guns for jails, and a live MIDI guitar demo

This week, a heated argument breaks out over the cable TV regulatory landscape (we're sure you were just thinking about that as well). Plus, check out footage of a new laser weapon ready for use at LA County jails, and groove to some live music on the YouRock MIDI guitar.

More importantly, this may sound a lot like the classic "dog ate my homework" excuse, but it appears that the gremlins in our broadcast facility actually did eat the video version of this week's show (which aired live on Monday at 3 p.m. ET).

While we attempt to recover the video file, this episode is only available as audio at the moment (see the "Listen Now" player at the bottom of the page). If you need some visual stimulation while listening, feel free to flip through this slideshow of Scott and Dan modeling back-to-school backpacks.

Crave 14: Electric ladyland...of bacon (podcast)

This week on Crave, there's a hidden euphemism in just about everything, but you'll have to listen for the juiciest bits. The preview goes a little something like this: a liquid pencil fails to impress Eric, we hem and haw over giant people sculptures made to replace ugly electricity pylons, and a couple wheeled gadgets are getting creepy...and emotional. Also on tap--literally--a kegerator iPad app, and a curvaceous camera that gets more than a few comments from the peanut gallery. Finally, a little food porn in the form of a bacon bouquet.

Digital City 93: iPhone 4 lines still long; back-to-school tech picks; BioShock Infinite props

This week, Scott stands in a very long line at the Apple store for an iPhone 4; Dan previews some possible fixes for NYC's terrible Taxi TV screens; and we reveal everyone's back-to-school tech picks.

Two video games have us buzzing right now. It's Madden season, so Scott (dressed in full Jet regalia) and Joey debate the merits of this year's $60 roster update; then we check out the trailer for BioShock Infinite, and show off some cool props from the game we managed to get our hands on (you can also check them out in the gallery below).

Crave 13: Gundam vs. Wolverphant (podcast)

This week, Crave branches out onto our friendly neighborhood tech blogs to bring you a super fantastique, ultra huge, raver-friendly digital turntable thingie...and a bottle opener. Don't be too let down by that second one: it's over-priced and attaches to your bike, so it still has some cache. Also, Donald and Eric get extremely excited over a glorified statue, an electric Datsun leaves a Nissan GT-R in the dust, and a giant robot arm is put to good use. Plus, Jasmine squeals over an elephant with some monstrous dental work, and we take a look at a camera lens cleavage coffee mug.

Digital City 92: Slingbox outages; high-tech subway woes; and a Nintendo-loving gorilla

This week we freak out about Slingbox outages that have hit users around the country (fortunately, the problem seems mostly solved at this point). Then, we check out the two big tech firm ousters of the past week: Apple's head iPhone guy and HP's CEO, inspiring a quick peek at HP's high-profile Envy 14 laptop.

Dan goes over some recent NYC subway nightmares, and how the MTA's high-tech makeover isn't moving very quickly; and finally, we show off some candid shots of a gorilla that got his paws on some poor zoo visitor's Nintendo DSi XL.
