Apps that make Android phones look like iPhones aren't new by any means, but they remain an interesting novelty that seems to appeal to a lot of Android users. If you've been curious about how iOS 6 would look on your Android phone, a new app called Fake iPhone 5 has just been uploaded to Google Play.
Created by a user at XDA Developers, Fake iPhone 5 is a replacement launcher that makes your Android phone's screen look almost exactly like an iPhone 5's. The main home screen's icons look like duplicates of iOS 6'… Read more
This is a Prizefight throwdown showdown between Apple's iPhone 5 and Samsung's Galaxy S3, before the Jelly Bean update, that will continue on for generations to come.
The iPhone 5 finally has caught up to technologies that the Android world has had for more than a year, so how will it match up with one of Android's crown jewels, the Galaxy S3?
You can bet we'll be pitting these two against each other after the Jelly Bean update, but you can't have a better matchup than this. There's no way to go wrong with … Read more
Think for a second about the people you don't think about.
They go to work in giant factories in China by the hundreds of thousands to make consumer electronics such as your iPhone. They work long hours for wages we'd consider unconscionable, but for many of them may well be aspirational. They've left their homes to travel around China as digital age migrant workers, helping Foxconn and other contract manufacturers fulfill orders during their busiest seasons. They live in tight quarters in huge dormitories. And at the end of the month, they hope to have enough money … Read more
It's not news that people aren't too happy with iOS 6's maps. But what about other aspects of the operating system?
Well, a new survey shows that iPhone owners satisfaction with the iOS 6 overall seems to be decreasing compared with iOS 5.
According to TechCrunch, the mobile customer research firm On Device conducted a poll of nearly 16,000 iPhone owners in the U.S. and found that owner satisfaction had slightly dropped compared with previous surveys done on iOS 4 and 5. Although the drop is minimal, this is the first time On Device has … Read more
If you had trouble finding this post, that's probably because you were using Apple's new Maps app. With the release of iOS 6, Apple replaced the awesome Google Maps with an app of its own. The result? A lot of frustrated, lost iPhone users.
Also this week, we check out a rumor that the Wii U will be region-locked, just like all the previous Nintendo consoles, and Nuance may be developing software that will allow you to wake up your phone by yelling at it. Great, just what we need.
Thanks for watching!

With the debut of Apple's iPhone 5 and its new bigger 4-inch screen, developers had to madly rush to redesign their apps to fit the device. Instagram announced today that its app is now ready for the iPhone 5 and iOS 6.
"Instagram version 3.1 is available in the App Store!" the photo sharing app wrote in a tweet. "Updates for iOS 6, iPhone 5, and more. Android 3.1 coming soon."
Here's a new one from the world of whacky maps brought to you courtesy of Apple. It turns out that Apple's maps in iOS 6 -- which has brought images such as this wobbly rendition of New York's Williamsburg Bridge, and this free-falling road over the Hoover Dam -- is anything but helpful when you want to get off the Interstate? Which Interstate? Well, any of the ones we looked at, from California to New Jersey. Just check out the maps above, which shows Interstate 80 and U.S. Route 50 near Sacramento. Google maps shows the … Read more
I really wasn't going to order an iPhone 5 -- I stayed up until midnight on pre-order night to order two unlocked versions, one to unbox, and one to torture, and then realized the unlocked versions weren't available.
So, I now own one, but I do think that makes this week's Unboxing more exciting, because of my personal stake in the whole thing.
Apple didn't do much to the iPhone's camera from the 4S to the 5. Then again, it didn't really have to.
The iPhone 4S has one of the best cameras on a smartphone, and with some improved processing and other enhancements, the iPhone 5 does now, too. But it's not the only mobile device with a good camera built in, with the HTC One X and Samsung Galaxy S3 offering up some strong competition.
