NEW YORK--A senior Sprint Nextel executive is hopeful that the new HTC EVO 4G will entice Sprint customers to stick with the carrier instead of defecting to AT&T for the new iPhone 4 this summer.
At an investor conference here Wednesday, Robert Brust, Sprint's chief financial officer, warned that the summer is usually the time of year that Sprint and all other U.S. carriers except AT&T feel the sting from a new iPhone launch. For the past three years, Apple and AT&T have launched a new version of the iPhone in June … Read more

Sprint's first-day sales of the HTC Evo 4G phone were good, but not quite as good as the carrier initially stated.
Sprint acknowledged Tuesday that it had overstated launch-date sales of the new Evo smartphone--the first 4G phone available in the United States. Sprint, its exclusive carrier, originally said that sales on Friday were three times the number of Samsung Instinct and Palm Pre devices that it sold over their first three days combined.
But Evo sales on launch day were actually in line with the number of Instinct and Pre phones sold over the first three days … Read more

Counting Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, and of course HTC, among its customers, Abaxia said that it has provided software to 60 different handset models.
The acquisition is a way for HTC to boost mobile app development under its own roof.

It seems no one was really prepared for the huge demand for the HTC Evo 4G. Not only did Sprint and other retailers run out of the devices, but Qik, the provider for the Evo 4G's video chat app, was also overwhelmed by the phone's popularity and ended up having to temporarily pull the app.
Actually, the problems started early for Qik when customers complained that they couldn't even find the Qik video chat app in the Android Market, but fortunately, Google quickly came up with a workaround so users could discover and download the app from … Read more
We knew the HTC Evo 4G was going to be hot, but we just didn't know how hot. Well, apparently it was hot enough to break records.
Though it wouldn't provide specific numbers, Sprint said on Monday that it sold more Evo 4Gs in a single day than any other phone. Previously, the record was held by the Samsung Instinct and Palm Pre. In fact, Evo 4G sales on launch day were three times the number of Instinct and Pre devices sold over their first three days on the market combined--pretty impressive.
Unfortunately, the high demand also led … Read more
