Porsche CEO steps down

Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking and financial director Holger P. Haerter have resigned from their positions "with immediate effect."

Wiedeking will receive 50 million euros ($71 million) in compensation, while Haerter will receive 12.5 million euros.

The German luxury automaker announced the shake-up after a meeting of its supervisory board that went on late into Wednesday night.

"The ultimate goal is to lay the foundations for creating an integrated car manufacturing company from Porsche SE and Volkswagen AG," Porsche Automobil Holding said in Wednesday's statement.

The history of Porsche in a new documentary

Starting with the lifetime achievements of Ferdinand and Ferry Porsche, "The Porsche Way" chronicles in eight chapters the development of the famous sports car manufacturer.

The two-and-a-half-hour documentary is available at the Porsche Museum Shop in Stuttgart.

Aston Martin V12 Vantage vs. Porsche GT2

The new Aston Martin V12 Vantage is put to a road test by reviewers from the U.K.'s Autocar. The road test even includes a brief race against the Porsche GT2.

The Vantage, which sports a 6-liter V-12, made its debut at the 2009 Geneva auto show.

The new Porsche GT3 gets a gold star from Autocar reviewer Jamie Corstorphine. While the 911 has disappointed Porsche enthusiasts lately, this new model gets high marks.

The 435 horsepower, six-cylinder engine tops out at about 190 mph.
