Logitech introduces DIY video security system

Several companies have tried to launch DIY video security systems that promise no-hassle setup for average consumers. But most have failed.

Now Logitech is giving it a shot with its new Alert digital video security system, which it says, "Takes just a few minutes to set-up through a three-step process." The base 750i Master System ($299.99) includes a "smart" HD camera that captures 720p video, both PC and Web software, and free remote viewing on a PC or Mac computer or smartphone (app required).

Logitech wants to pay you to promote Google TV

The first wave of Google TV devices is right around the corner. To kick it off, Logitech is running a contest called the "Host with the Most" that will put its Google TV-stuffed Revue set-top box in the hands of users ahead of its official launch so that they can show it off to people they know. For the three winners there are some pretty serious strings attached though, including dedicating 20 hours a week for 10 weeks to host 50 to 70 marketing parties for the device.

The line includes the HD Webcam C270 ($39.99), HD Webcam C310 ($49.99), HD Webcam C510 ($59.99), and the HD Webcam Pro C910 ($99.99).
