Cardboard Ferrari aims to cut out emissions

In the race to make cars lighter, faster, and more economical, Ferrari is thinking outside the box. Well, it's thinking about the box, to be more accurate, as this week it unveiled a concept car made partially from cardboard. Looking very much like a squished Enzo, the full-size FXX Millechili also features a power-assist hybrid drive train (one in which electricity assists rather than replaces the gasoline engine), a carbon fiber frame, and plastic-and-cardboard panels.

Ferrari to Vatican: There's no sin in a little fun

Ferrari would like to set the record straight for those devout Catholics out there who have an extra $200,000 kicking around.

Its cars are by no means mere symbols of enviable status and power. Most people who buy Ferraris have an appreciation for the fun of driving, Amedeo Felisa, vice general manager of Ferrari, told Reuters.

HP EdgeLine CM8060: Super-fast printing

HP has raised its pimp hand to smack its competition with a brand-new printing technology. Known as EdgeLine, the new system can print a massive 60 pages per minute in mono and 50 pages per minute in color--it's the Ferrari Enzo of printing.

Crave witnessed the official unveiling of two EdgeLine-equipped machines, the CM8060 and CM8050, at an event in Paris yesterday (get us!). HP bigwig Jan Riecher hit a switch, some curtains pulled back and before us stood the mother of all printers--a forklift-sized behemoth that rivaled Mr. Bean for sheer beigeness.

Park a Ferrari on your desk

Fabrik announced today a new family of sleek desktop hard drives that incorporates 2GB of free online storage through the company's MyFabrik Web service: SimpleDrive. The new drives (designed by Pininfarina, longtime designer of the Ferrari) come in several capacities, which are color-coded: 160GB (red); 250GB (white); 320GB (blue); 500GB (black); 750GB (charcoal); and 1TB (charcoal). All feature a single, 3.5-inch hard drive from Hitachi, including the 1TB version. This is the first single-disk, 1TB external hard drive on the market.

Ferrari takes another turn for luxury phone

Ferrari's marketing department is apparently as finicky as the legendary brand's automobiles. That, at least, is the only explanation we can assume given its fickle nature on branded mobile phones.

Just a few months after announcing a custom Motorazr Maxx V6 that bore its nameplate, Ferrari has already made a sharp turn to another manufacturer: luxury handset maker Vertu, which will produce the "Ascent Ferrari 1947 Limited Edition" to mark the automaker's 60th birthday.

Another Enzo down

In one of the most expensive unplanned publicity stunts in movie history, actor Eddie Griffin wrecked a Ferrari Enzo while practicing for a charity race intended to promote his new movie, Redline. The owner of the car, Daniel Sadek, is also the executive producer of the movie. Sadek has a large exotic car collection which he, foolishly in our estimation, let be used in the movie. The ultimate Ferrari garage

CNET Car Tech posted a set of photos of an extraordinary Ferrari collection. These cars are ultrarare, with examples such as the 342 America, just one of six built, and the F50 GT1, one of three built. The most expensive car in the collection is the 250 GTO. Although there were 39 of these cars built, they are valued at more than $10 million. These vintage and rare Ferraris were photographed at the Ferrari of Silicon Valley dealership in Redwood City.
