The shirt with the most incredible Amazon reviews

I am a little on the touchy-feely side. On the right side of touchy-feely, of course. But it's the Polish blood, you see. Feel first, think later. Like Chopin. But not so much like Roman Polanski.

This touchy-feelingness means I've never bought a T-shirt on Amazon. However, I am rather tempted to sacrifice this principle, and any feelings attached to it, in favor of a T-shirt that features three wolves howling at the moon.

Oh, it doesn't seem like all that wondrous a design. It's just that, well, the reviews it's received on Amazon suggest … Read more

Steampunky goggles feature working aperture

Today is a very bright, sunny day in Seattle. I wore my sunglasses. My sunglasses are rarely used, yet badass. They are not, though, as badass as these variable aperture goggles we found on SmugMug. Change down the aperture and you get less light. They're awesome.

Sadly, they're a concept and not actually for sale, which is too bad. While I'm not a huge fan of the steampunk movement, I understand it. That being said, I would totally rock these, if I could get them in my prescription. I'm that much of a nerd.

I would, … Read more

JBL and Roxy to collaborate on audio products aimed at style-conscious women

Pink is great and all, but you can't expect to plaster a Pepto paint job on a product and have the ladies come running. The majority of tech-savvy females place more weight on quality and functionality than color and style anyway. Still, that's not to say we don't care at all about how a gadget looks, which is exactly what JBL and Roxy are counting on.

The two companies, one an audio device manufacturer (JBL) and the other a clothing and accessory line for women (Roxy), have just announced a partnership that will have them working together … Read more

Courtney Love in 'hosebag thief' Twitter libel suit

Courtney Love is in a hole.

It appears that her temper, which occasionally flares wider than her nostrils, seems to have attracted a libel suit--the first libel suit, as far as I am aware, to have been engendered by Twitter tweets.

The person who believes she has been besmirched beyond all reasonable social networking is Dawn Simorangkir, Ms. Love's former fashion designer.

Some might say that Ms. Love's style is less a feast for the eyes and slightly more an evening meal for a friendly pet. But she appears, according to the court documents, to have had a … Read more

Nixon Wire Mic earphones are as fashionable as they come

Fashion-forward headphones are nothing new. In the past couple of years, we've seen quite the parade of chic earphones from the likes of V-moda, Radius, and even Monster Cable. Nixon, a company best known for its board-sport-inspired line of watches and other accessories, has decided to dip its toe in these waters, too, and it should come as no surprise that the company's Wire Mic earphones are among the most stylish we've seen. However, quality is not all about good looks, and we're not without some criticisms for these $90 'buds.

Japan's latest supermodel--a robot

She doesn't have the grace of a Cindy Crawford or Elle MacPherson (yet), but a few struts on the catwalk may help HRP-4C loosen up and hit her stride. The walking, talking girlbot will be getting practice soon, as she's set to make her catwalk debut at a Tokyo fashion show next week.

Scientists from Japan's National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology reportedly designed the 5-foot (ish), dark-haired creation to look like an average Japanese woman between the ages of 19 and 29. Unlike the average Japanese woman, however, HRP-4C has 30 motors in her body that allow her to walk and move its arms (somewhat loudly and awkwardly, if the video below is any indication) and 8 facial motors for blinking, smiling, and expressing emotions akin to anger and surprise. … Read more

Diana Eng's DIY guide to geek gorgeous

Hoodie. Check. Headphones. Check. Soldering iron, wire cutters, conductive thread. Check, check, and check. Now if I can just figure out how to wield those last three items, I'd have me a handmade headphone hoodie. As the title suggests, that's a jacket with the speakers built in to the hood--and wearing one would be extra cool if I could say I made it myself.

And I might just be able to, with a new book from fashion designer Diana Eng. Some will remember Eng as the adorably nerdy contestant from reality TV show "Project Runway" who … Read more

Cool waveform bracelets--advice you can wear

The picture you see here is a bracelet modeled after the waveform of someone saying "I believe in you." Made by a group called The Sound Advice Project, it is a way for parents to record a message, which is then custom-made into a piece of jewelry as a gift to a teenage child. The purpose is for the child to always have a visual reminder of the advice.

Though primarily an effort against teen drug abuse (thus the focus on parent-child advice), the geeky-cool nature of this bracelet is undeniable. Check out the official site, where you … Read more

The new iPod vest with speakers for shoulder pads

I am told by those who cycle, jog and rob banks that if you're wearing an iPod with earphones, it's quite hard to be aware of imminent dangers. Like buses and cars and policemen.

So some extremely ingenious Koreans have designed a vest-like contraption, called the Sound Walk, that allows you to enjoy speakers built into your shoulder pads.

It looks a little like a harness from a children's army brigade, but you simply slip your iPod, Zune or other player into a pocket at the front which is wired up to the speakers in your shoulder … Read more

Time-aid watch syncs with clocks near and far

Now here's a concept timepiece that could literally stand the test of time.

The brainchild of designers Christophe Koch and Lea Kobeli, Time-aid is a custom-made wristwatch that relies on the imaginary Timex clock network. In short, it's capable of displaying clock faces around the world via a live satellite feed. If you are in London, you could be looking at the Big Ben on your wrist, or the tower clock at the Star Ferry terminal if you are in Hong Kong.

The solar-powered concept is waterproof up to more than 16,000 feet and makes use of … Read more
