Apple's World Wide Developers Conference starts on Monday, and while the main focus appears to be on updates to iOS (read my iOS 7 wish list here) and various Mac hardware, it's highly likely we'll get an update for Mac OS X 10.9 as well. At this point, we don't know what will be announced and we don't even know which "cat" will be associated with the release. Even the picture above (a giant banner currently displayed at Moscone Center) is suspiciously free of any cats at all, so it's hard … Read more
The young people these days are really into the Google, even more than the Apple or the Facebook.
That's the finding of a poll conducted for The Washington Post in which 94 percent of respondents between the ages of 18 and 29 reported having a favorable opinion of the Mountain View, Calif., behemoth, with 72 percent saying they have a "strongly favorable" view of Google.
That officially makes Google more popular with twenty-somethings than chocolate, which 90 percent of people say they "love."… Read more
A big-screen iPhone 6 should show up next year while the highly anticipated iPad Mini Retina may be delayed until the fourth quarter, according to Citi Research.
In a research note to investors Friday, Citi began by saying that production of the upcoming iPhone 5S "has been delayed by two to four weeks."
The note continued. "And while this does not preclude a September iPhone 5S launch date, we suspect volumes in September may consequently be challenged," Citi's Glen Yeung wrote, citing "our field work in the hardware supply chain."

At this point, Apple is all but certain to unveil iRadio -- or whatever it calls its Internet radio service -- at Monday's Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco.

In case it wasn't clear that Apple planned to show off the next major version of iOS and OS X at next week's WWDC, there are now banners for both.
Spotted by MacStories on Friday, a very simple and minimal banner with colored "7" on it set against what looks much like the dotted aluminum found on the Mac Pro tower. Apple later put up one for OS X, which simply says "X" with a wave on it.
Apple typically keeps some banners hidden ahead of official announcements at WWDC, though had ones for … Read more
Dear recent graduate,
First off, congratulations. Secondly, allow me to ask: did you, perchance, receive a shiny, new MacBook for your scholastic achievements? If so, I would direct your attention to a new Web app, Get Mac Apps.

After more than year of off-and-on negotiations, Apple has now reached deals with all three major music labels, making it increasingly likely that Apple will unveil its free Internet radio service at next week's WWDC event.
The latest deal is with Sony Music, according to industry sources who said the two sides struck a deal Friday morning. Sony had been the lone holdout of the three major music labels, haggling over some details that frustrated execs at the other labels. The world's largest label, Universal Music, was the first to sign on, followed by Warner Music and its publishing arm, Warner/Chappell. … Read more
The original iPad may seem a bit like of a dinosaur nowadays, but, well, it's still an iPad. Big screen. Endless apps. iTunes ecosystem. All good.
Today only, and while supplies last, DailySteals has the refurbished first-gen Apple iPad (16GB) for $149 shipped. That may be the lowest price I've seen on any iPad ever.
Consequently, this may sell out very quickly, so I'm going to toss in an extra bonus deal just in case. But as of around 8:45 a.m. ET, they were in stock -- and a company rep told me they have … Read more
