Proving that not everything belongs in the cloud, a recent publicity stunt for the LG G2 ended in nearly two dozen injuries.
Taking place in Seoul on Friday, the "G in the Cloud" event was designed to help generate interest in the new flagship phone. The idea was to launch hundreds of helium balloons in the air with 100 of them including vouchers for a free G2 handset. Unfortunately, not many of the balloons got far as onlookers and attendees attempted to grab the coupons for themselves.

LG certainly hopes so and has banked heavily on its latest super smartphone to finally give the company a global blockbuster it is so desperately seeking. The Korean electronics giant has been steadily building up the hype for the device, releasing videos, promoting the event through digital ads (including on this site), and making it known that its next flagship smartphone is just around the corner.
The event today -- which thankfully omitted the overly dramatic theatrics of Samsung's GS4 debut, but … Read more
LG's new G2 has a jumbo 5.2-inch screen that borders on phablet territory, a blazing Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, and -- crazily -- navigation buttons on its backplate.

NEW YORK -- LG on Wednesday unveiled its new G2 smartphone to take on Apple, Samsung, and other Android phone makers.
The hardware specs are top-of-the-line, with the G2 sporting a 5.2-inch full HD display and running on a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. The G2 is the first global device to include Qualcomm's highest-end chip. The device also is LTE-Advanced capable, allowing for faster wireless speeds in places like Korea. The U.S. doesn't yet have the faster network.
Perhaps the most noticeable difference from other devices is the location of the volume and power buttons. The three buttons were placed on the back of the phone rather than their typical location on the side of the device. LG noted that its rear key design came from studies that showed that the larger the phone became, the more difficult it was to properly access the side buttons.
T-Mobile will begin selling three new LG phones, including LG's new marquee Android device, the LG G2, which the company announced Wednesday.
In addition, the no-contract carrier will sell two other LG smartphones, the Optimus F6 and Optimus F3, which Sprint also carries.
The G2 has an enormous 5.2-inch display, a 13-megapixel camera, and unusual back-panel controls.
The LG Optimus F3 has a 4-inch display and goes on sale beginning today for a promotional price of zero down and $240 over the course of two years. T-Mobile has yet to unveil sales dates and pricing for the remaining … Read more
A little more than 12 hours before LG is expected to take the wraps off its G2, the first press image of the company's next flagship smartphone has allegedly leaked out.
A purported marketing image of the smartphone, which incidentally displays the time and date of Wednesday's big reveal, was obtained and tweeted by evleaks Tuesday afternoon. The device's front sports the standard speaker grill and three capacitive buttons, while the back cover features what appears to be a volume rocker arm situated beneath a rear-facing camera.
CNET has contacted LG for comment on the image and … Read more
