BMW released the second chapter of its four-part documentary series, "Wherever You Want to Go," which focuses on the future of mobility, cities, and technology. "The future just isn't what it used to be" is a 6-minute, 42-second clip showing interviews with transportation and technology leaders such as Buzz Aldrin, Google's Marissa Mayer, and former Zipcar CEO Robin Chase to discuss the future of the automobile.

Long after the big game ends and Green Bay Coach Mike McCarthy washes off the Gatorade, blogs and the Twitterverse are still sorting out the Super Bowl commercial winners and losers. But according to AdBowl, it looks like Volkswagen will take the trophy for its Darth Vader ad.

"Black Diamond Edition" sounds more like ski equipment than a car, but the Cadillac CTS-V Black Diamond Edition is one hot-looking automobile.

The CTS-V Black Diamond Edition is available in the CTS-V Sedan, Coupe, and Wagon models for about $4,850 over the CTS-V base price.

What sets the Black Diamond Edition apart is specialized tri-coat paint from California-based JDSU. A look of diamonds in the SpectraFlair pigment in the paint is created by using aluminum flakes encapsulated in a glass-like substance called magnesium fluoride, GM said.

Blind driver to lap Daytona International Speedway Sunday

A man who has been blind since he was 5 years old will drive an exhibition lap on Saturday, as part of the prerace activities for the Rolex 24 at the Daytona International Speedway at 11:30 a.m. ET on Saturday, January 29.

Mark Anthony Riccobono will get behind the wheel of a specially equipped Ford Escape hybrid that will allow him to drive the Florida race track.

Fastest four-seater ever: Ferrari FF hits 208 mph

Don't let the four seats fool you: this is not your average family car. The Ferrari FF (or Ferrari Four), has four seats and four-wheel drive.

The FF, which will replace the 612 Scaglietti four-seater, boasts a 12-cylinder, 6.3-liter direct-injection engine that produces 651 horsepower with 504 pound-feet of torque and can accelerate from zero to 62 mph in 3.7 seconds.

With electronic dynamic control system and the company's first-ever four-wheel drive system, 4RM, the FF promises to deliver sporty, high-performance handling in a wide-array of terrains and road conditions, according to the company.

Tesla Model S Alpha shows off for the camera

Tesla Motors, manufacturer of the Roadster electric sports car and supplier of EV components, has released information about its upcoming Model S sedan's development cycle.

Tesla is breaking the S' preproduction testing into two phases, alpha and beta. Within each phase the automaker will be building multiple test mules as it attempts to home in on its targeted performance, range, and crash safety. From auto show to test track, check out the Porsche 918 RSR

Last week, CNET Editor-at-Large Brian Cooley walked us through the more interesting aspects of the Porsche 918 RSR Racing Lab concept at the 2011 Detroit auto show.

Now Porsche has released a video on YouTube of the high-performance hybrid doing laps on a test track. The highly stylized "Torture test" video (after the jump), tortures only the viewer because it's just a mere glimpse of what the RSR can, no doubt, do.

Volvo shows electric battery unharmed in crash (video)

Electrified versions of conventional gasoline-powered vehicles may look the same, but large engines have been replaced with smaller motors, the batteries are enormous, and there's no gas tank to be found. Those differences are enough to impact or compromise the car's original safety features.

To demonstrate the safety of the C30 Electric, Volvo released video of a crash test that shows its electric versions are as safe as counterparts outfitted with conventional internal combustion engines (ICE).

Minis get jumped in new slow-mo 3D cinema ad

In an ad depicting the growing Mini family, the company just announced that the Mini Paceman concept, unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show, has been given the green light for full production.

The ad, in a first-ever slow motion 3D (shown here in 2D), features an 1,800-hp monster truck jumping a Mini Cooper Convertible, a Mini Cooper Clubman, a Mini Cooper S, and a Mini Cooper S Countryman in front of a stadium audience. The ad debuts today in movie theaters.

2011 Audi A8 to star in Super Bowl commercial

Each winter the Super Bowl attracts more viewers. Super Bowl XLIV, last year, between the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts, attracted an audience of 106.5 million viewers.

This year during Super Bowl XLV, Audi will debut a commercial inspired by "Goodnight Moon," the 1947 children's book by Margaret Wise Brown, one of the best-selling children's books of all time.
