GM to show EN-V mobility device at CES 2011

The next stop for GM's Electric Networked Vehicle(EN-V) concept is the upcoming 2011 Consumer Electronics Show in January. In addition to its next-generation infotainment system, the carmaker will be showing off the three electric two-seater concepts it debuted at the 2010 Expo in Shanghai last March.

The personal mobility vehicles are one-third the size of typical cars, offer a 25-mile electric range, and are built on Segway's self-balancing two-wheeled PUMA platform. But the EN-V is more than just an upgraded Segway: it's equipped with drive-by-wire technology, and its carbon-fiber body is outfitted with GPS, distancing-sensing, vehicle-to-vehicle … Read more

One-of-a-kind Tesla Roadster art car on display

Adding another project to his "auto" biography, artist Laurence Gartel has designed a one-of-a-kind Tesla Roadster art car.

Gartel, who is known for his pioneering work in digital media, has shown in New York's Museum of Modern Art and other renowned museums and galleries and has work included in the Smithsonian Institution's Museum of American History. Gartel has also published several books, including "Auto Motion," which coincided with a fully digital 3D fine-art sculpture exhibition of the same name.

Northern California electric automaker Tesla collaborated with Gartel on the unique design. BMW has been collaborating with famous artists for years on numerous art cars.

The Roadster will be featured tonight at Gartel's Art Basel festival in Miami Beach. The car is for sale for $109,000, but because it features a wrap, the buyer will have to negotiate the price of the wrap with the artist, Tesla said. The car will be in and around Miami Beach all week.
