HANOVER, Germany--SuperTalent showed off a forthcoming product at CeBIT, a PCI Express flash storage system that beats out conventional SSDs in performance but that doesn't cost as much as the company's existing PCIe products.

The RAIDDrive UpStream uses a SandForce controller to handle data-transfer speeds of 1GBps. That's roughly twice the speed of SSDs that, like the pokier but cheaper hard drives they typically replace, use the SATA interface.

The Nintendo 3DS, which debuted last year, is an improvement in terms of graphics from its Nintendo DS predecessor, but time has not been kind to Nintendo's hold of the casual games market--and, glasses-free 3D has been a gimmick, at best. We've been having a classic-video-game kind of time here at Crave recently, what with our sister site CNET News revisiting one of the old-schoolest of them all--Spacewar--and Crave itself reminiscing about all the quarters we scrounged (and promptly fed to Pac-Man) back in the days of the old arcade.

Despite the industry's best efforts, 3D in the home has brought about little more than a yawn and a shift in the seats for most of the buying public.
