Featured Freeware: SlimBrowser

If you're in the market for a remix of Internet Explorer--perhaps you need it to work on an internal office network--an interesting alternative is SlimBrowser, whose name belies its feature set. SlimBrowser's tabbed interface allows you to look at multiple Web sites all at once. It looks and feels more or less like its more popular competitors, so the learning curve isn't as steep as you might think.

The basics are all present and accounted for: effective pop-up blocker, more than 100 skins that don't require restarting, and support for most of IE's toolbars and … Read more

The 404 194: Where Justin gets cornered and becomes increasingly adorable

Nothing makes you feel better on a Monday morning than thinking about how much smarter you are than an Alaskan governor. After lightly touching on the Katie Couric and Sarah Palin interview, not to mention once again obsessing over the gorgeous Tina Fey, we discuss a handful of stories including the untimely death of a chef, kinky iPod accessories, Krispy Kreme heart attacks, and the future of the digital retirement home.

In a last-ditch effort to alleviate his parents' disappointment, Jeff won't be on the show tomorrow. Instead, we're super excited to have Clayton Morris, rising star of Fox's weekend edition of Fox and Friends. On today's show, we make the best of Jeff's last day and speaks to a number of stories including a notable Web site, VotefortheMILF.com. If you click on that link, the site redirects you to a page featuring a video of the Alaskan governor! In all likelihood, the site probably wasn't created by McCain's people. But hey--if that's all that Palin has going for her, milk it lady! PEW PEW PEW!

Samsung S3 Slim screams sleek and sounds super

The MP3 player market does nothing but benefit from the decline in flash memory prices. One of many examples can be found in the Samsung S3 Slim, a super slick-looking device that comes in 4GB and 8GB flavors for just $79.99 and $119.99, respectively. The S3 delivers a good value, thanks to excellent sound quality and a handful of useful features. However, we're a bit letdown by the player's shrunken screen and lack of integrated Bluetooth, a neat feature that is included on its sibling, the Samsung T10. Logitech updates its PlayGear Pocket

Logitech has updated its line of PlayGear Pocket game cases for the current generation of Sony and Nintendo portable gaming rigs. The PlayGear Pocket Slim is a version of the original PlayGear Pocket that has been slightly downsized to more snugly accommodate the current, skinnier version of the Sony PSP.

The company is also debuting the PlayGear Pocket for the Nintendo DS Lite as well. The similarly styled hard case also includes space for up to four DS cartridges.

Both cases will be available immediately--the PlayGear Pocket Slim will cost $15 and the PlayGear Pocket DS will cost $20.

More Dell E-series Netbook details leak

We first started hearing about Dell's under-development 9-inch Netbook-style laptop after a prototype was spotted under founder Michael Dell's arm last month. Now the guys at Engadget have turned up a slew of leaked docs describing what the company is calling the Dell E and the Dell E Slim. No relation to the similar Asus Eee PC, naturally.

It looks like the Dell E will have an 8.9-inch 1,024x600 display, a 1.6GHz Intel Diamondville CPU (part of the Atom family), and have either a 4, 8, or 16GB SSD hard drive. RAM options are 512MB … Read more

BenQ to introduce super-slim phone in Asia

BenQ has never really been known for its stylish handset designs or, for that matter, slim phones. But it seems that the company is looking to change that impression with its upcoming T60 mobile phone.

Initially, the most striking thing about the T60 is its profile. It measures less than 9 millimeters thick (0.35 inches), which makes it one of the thinnest handsets in the market today besides the Samsung Ultra Edition phones.

However, what really captured our attention was the T60's beautifully crafted design. Its glossy stainless-steel back plate combined with smooth curves and a minimalist button … Read more

JVC goes slim with new headphones

You remember those fold-up Sony headphones that you used to take with you to the gym? Well, JVC's added a new "high-end" version of that type of headphone to its Bi-Metal line of in-ear canal headphones. JVC's HA-SX500 will be out this month with a list price of $79.99. Oh, and it's iPhone-compatible.

Here's the news release if you want the details:

"The new JVC HA-SX500 achieves high quality sound by employing JVC's original Bi-Metal structure and a new large 16mm neodymium driver unit, offering greater power handling and sensitivity.

JVC's Bi-Metal structure is designed to enhance performance across the frequency range by housing the drive unit in a steel base wrapped in a high-specific-gravity brass ring to eliminate vibration and energy loss. The HA-SX500 also offers a vast reduction in friction noise. The headphones feature flexible rubber joints, reducing friction noise while increasing comfort, and use OFC (oxygen-free copper) to minimize transmission loss in the 0.8 meter friction noise reduction cord.

The lightweight HA-SX500 headphones are designed to provide a comfortable and secure fit while delivering superior isolation from external sounds and minimizing sound leakage. The ergonomic silicon rubber earpieces come in three sizes to provide snug, customized sizing, supported by a cushioned metallic foldable headband for a secure fit and hours of comfort. … Read more
