Lenovo plans on hitting the tablet market this year with devices aimed at both Android and Windows.

In an interview with Dow Jones Newswires reported this week by The Wall Street Journal, (subscription required), Lenovo president and Chief Operating Officer Rory Read revealed that the company will launch two 10-inch Android tablets this summer followed by a 10-inch Windows tablet later in the year.

One Android tablet, named the IdeaPad, will be geared for the consumer market, while the other, with the ThinkPad name, will be marketed toward the business crowd. Both tablets will run Honeycomb and be priced anywhere from $450 to $900 depending on their configurations, according to the interview. Lenovo's current tablet, the Android-powered LePad, is only available in China.

Some tech sites, including TechConnect and Pocket-Lint, are pointing to the IdeaPad tablet as the IdeaPad K1, a device that's already received some buzz and was reportedly listed on a few retail sites, such as Buy.com, according to Engadget.

Dell will launch its highly anticipated 10-inch tablet in the Chinese market first, based on a emerging belief that the U.S. market isn't mature enough for a successful Android launch, Dell executives told CNET today.

Dell's Streak 10 Pro (see specifications below) will launch in China this summer and in the U.S. market probably sometime next year, John Thode, a Dell vice president and manager of Dell's mobility business, told CNET. Just a couple of days ago, J.K. Shin, Samsung's president of mobile communications, said an LTE version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 was in the works for later this year, but it looks like it's going to be sooner rather than later.

Verizon Wireless announced today that it will start taking preorders for the 4G Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 on June 8. The carrier will offer a 16GB version for $529.99 and a 32GB for $629.99 but did not specify when the tablets would ship or be available in stores.

ViewSonic has unveiled its new 7-inch Honeycomb tablet, dubbed the ViewPad 7x, and its new 10-inch dual-OS tablet that can run both Windows 7 and Android.

The two tablets are on display for the first time this week at the Computex computer show in Taipei, Taiwan.

Powered by a dual-core Nvidia processor, the ViewPad 7x sports a capacitive 10-point multitouch screen (meaning you can use all 10 fingers to navigate and manipulate the screen) and provides cameras both on the front and back. Nvidia, an emerging power in the world of ARM processors for smartphones and tablets, has published a demonstration game called Glowball the company says shows what can be achieved with its quad-core Kal-El mobile processor project.

In the demo, an internally lit ball rolls around a playing board. With "dynamic lighting," shapes on the ball's exterior casting shadows on stacked barrels, lurking jack-in-the-boxes, hanging rugs, and a creepy clown face.
