Apple announced the smaller version of its high-end laptop with the sharper-resolution Retina Display at its event today in San Jose, Calif.

MacBook Pro 13 with Retina, Mac Mini specs leak online

Some last-minute leaks are making the rounds ahead of Apple's event today, and these involve the expected updates to the Mac Mini and MacBook Pro 13 with Retina.

9 To 5 Mac is reporting that Apple's refreshed Mac Mini models will have upgraded RAM options, as well as updated processors and storage capacity.

Here's the rundown of configurations, according to the site:

Leaked 13-inch Retina MacBook pics show ports, not much else

More photos claiming to depict the parts, and in fact, a working version of Apple's unannounced 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display, have surfaced.

MacRumors points to a forum post on Chinese technology site WeiPhone that features a slew of inside and outside of shots of what is said to be the smaller notebook.

By now, the fact that Apple is holding a press event on October 23 is old news. It's widely agreed that the long-rumored smaller iPad will finally be unveiled. Retina 13-inch MacBook Pro rumored to start at $1,699

The rumored 13-inch version of Apple's MacBook Pro with a Retina Display will cost some $500 more than Apple's existing, non-Retina 13-inch model, according to a new report.

Citing "wholesale prices," 9to5Mac says the 13-inch model of the notebook will start at $1,699 when it goes on sale next week. That's $500 less than the entry-level version of Apple's 15-inch model with a Retina Display, but also $500 more than the entry-level 13-incher on the non-Retina side.

Apple extends iMac hard drive replacements to '09-10 models

Apple has quietly extended a hard drive replacement program for its iMac all-in-one computers by an additional one year and seven months to cover machines made as far back as October 2009.

The change, noticed by CNET readers, means that users with Seagate's 1TB hard drive can get it swapped out by Apple or one of the company's authorized service provider for free if it fails.

The issue in question affected a batch of 1TB Seagate hard drives that shipped in Apple's iMac systems, originally between May and July of 2011. That drive was found in both … Read more

New Mac Minis said to join rumored iPad Mini debut

Next week's iPad Mini event, which remains a rumor at this point, may be bring another Mini product along for the ride.

Apple will also update its Mac Mini desktop computers, says Apple blog 9to5mac. The publication says Apple will stick with its existing lineup of two machines aimed at consumers and a server model. Those devices will be available "immediately" after the event the blog says.
