See the light through Iron Man, Mario stained glass

Stained glass is usually associated with Sunday mornings, proper attitudes, and at least a hint of guilt.

If you happen to worship at the altar of Marvel, though, Etsy seller MartianGlassWorks has the perfect accessory for your alternative cathedral: a 47-inch tall Iron Man stained glass window -- just one of a collection of brilliantly rendered, geeky glass creations.

The Iron Man window, which apparently took over 100 hours to construct, uses 334 pieces of glass in 11 different colors. It will set you back $4,500 to possess this artistic wonder, but that's much less than an actual, working Iron Man suit.… Read more

Nerdy aprons let you be barefoot and geeky in the kitchen

Geeks know there's more to life than video game marathons and "Star Trek" reruns. Sometimes, you need to step into the kitchen and make cookies with your "Star Wars" cookie cutters.

It's important to be properly outfitted when you're role-playing as a chef. You may want to pick up one of Etsy seller Darling Army's geek aprons as a personal force field for your body before you start flinging flour about.… Read more

Fistful of Rupees: Zelda done as a live-action Western

Fistful of Rupees reimagines Link as a loner Clint Eastwood type, battling against the forces of evil in an Old West town rather than a dungeon.

True to the video game series, Link doesn't say a word. Familiar Zelda weapons like boomerangs and arrows come into play, but this is a Western. Six shooters also make plenty of appearances. Red revitalizing potions come in glass jars and money is in the form of shiny crystals.… Read more

Rare Zelda prototype cartridge for $150,000 on eBay

Last year we ran into a rare Tetris cartridge with an asking price of $1 million. Perhaps the gaming market really is sinking, because a rare Legend of Zelda cartridge is going for just $150,000 on eBay.

The prototype cartridge dates to 1987, the U.S. release year for the famous NES game. The cartridge is yellow with a plain white label reading "Legend of Zelda."… Read more

Zelda fireplace insert: Legend in your living room

Etsy seller JamesBit is encouraging video game fans to warm their cockles in front of a Zelda fireplace insert. This fire is old-school Zelda, full of blocky bits of red, orange, and white.

The fireplace art piece is acrylic on your choice of canvas or wood. Just remember that either of those materials is flammable. Be sure to remove your Zelda fire to a safe distance before lighting a real fire in your fireplace.

JamesBit suggests placing the painting in a non-working or decorative fireplace, but don't let that limit you. It could be just as geeky hanging on your wall or warming your unused Wii console. … Read more

Video game characters get real with fake Facebook photos

Artist Andrew Golden lives in a world where famous video game characters have escaped from their consoles, signed up for Facebook accounts, and posted photos from their everyday lives.

Golden's imaginings run the gamut from Uncharted Drake's family vacation at the Grand Canyon to Goro from Mortal Kombat showing off his 12-pack stomach and four arms at the gym.

The images don't stop at snapshots. They also include snarky or admiring comments from video game characters' Facebook friends. Mario from Super Mario Brothers hoists a beer at a bar while his sibling Luigi announces his photobomb in the comments section.… Read more

Here's what an HD Zelda Wii U game might look and play like

LAS VEGAS--Nintendo held a few behind-closed-door meetings with an up-close and personal demo of the Wii U at CES 2012.

While the vast majority of demos and presentations were mostly stuff I had heard before, I was able to put together what playing a Zelda game on the Wii U might look and play like.

I had seen this quick Zelda on Wii U teaser video before, but through some generous imagination, I was able to carefully piece together how it could potentially work.

The Wii U's tablet controller's screen is very impressive, and would be the perfect … Read more

How to get Game Boy Advance games on your Nintendo 3DS:

However, those early customers became "Ambassadors" entitled to 20 free downloadable games--10 NES, 10 Game Boy Advance--that Nintendo promised would be available before the end of … Read more
