Woz: Apple got arrogant

Please read the following while not clutching sharp objects, delicate stuffed toys or your iPhone 5.

For Steve Wozniak, he who co-founded Apple, has declared that the company has been -- well, how can I put this? Yes, OK. "Arrogant."

I am grateful to Business Insider, which spotted that Woz had given an interview with South African tech site TechCentral.

As usual, Woz oozed sincerity, especially when it comes to iPhone 5.

"Part of me wishes Apple had not been so, kind of, arrogant and feeling like 'we're the only one with the right clue.' I … Read more

Woz: I wish iTunes could run on my Android devices

Apple ported iTunes to Windows, so why can't it do the same for Android?

That was just one of the comments made by Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak in a Q&A on tech-news site Slashdot yesterday.

Although he and Steve Jobs built Apple from the ground up, Woz has remained technology neutral, enjoying hardware from a variety of companies and competitors. As an Android device owner, he'd like to see Apple enter that arena as well.

"If you remember, we ported iTunes to Windows," Woz said in a response to one question. "We now … Read more

Woz on Apple Maps: Flaws overblown but still disappointing

Reviews of Apple's Maps have been mixed at best, but problems with the application may not be as bad as they've been made out to be, according to Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.

Wozniak said he was loving the iPhone 5, but admitted he was slightly disappointed with Apple Maps.

"I tried to navigate somewhere, and I couldn't get to where I wanted to by voice," he told ZDNet Australia. "So, I was a little disappointed, because I love navigation by voice with my Google [Android] phones, actually, since they always get it and are … Read more

Woz: iPhone 45 will mean you won't need humans

I can't get enough of Steve Wozniak.

Fortunately, there's quite a lot of him to go around -- especially when he decides to pronounce on, well, anything that takes his fancy.

The Apple co-founder is currently in Australia, which means he is already clutching an iPhone 5, while you are still dreaming of the moment.

However, while he's there, he's already been expounding on iPhone 45. That's not a typo. That's not iPhone 4S. That's iPhone 45.

I am grateful to Australia's 9 News for telling me that Woz was speaking yesterday … Read more

Apple co-founder Woz's old house on sale for $4.5M

Apple icons old and new have been on the move. In regard to real estate, that is.

The company's current design chief, Jonny Ive, just reportedly bought $17 million digs in San Francisco, and as it turns out, a former house of the company's early co-founder is looking for a new owner too.

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak's (or Woz's) "original estate" is on the market for a considerably lower asking price of $4.5 million. Located in Los Gatos, Calif., just a few minutes away from Apple's corporate headquarters, the two-story, six-bedroom house … Read more

Woz: I hate the Apple-Samsung patent fight

When something occurs on the Apple horizon, there are those who turn to their brightly colored wristband and ask it: "WWWD?"

Yes: what would Woz do?

Woz always prefers to speak his mind, rather than someone else's. So it was riveting to hear his reactions to Apple's glorious patent victory, as well as the launch of the iPhone 4SS.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Woz was quite clear about his feelings on the California jury that decided Apple needed to be given money for the pain caused by Samsung.

"I hate it," he said. &… Read more

Original Apple 1 a steal at $127,000

Another original Apple 1 computer is up for sale, and this time it's expected to fetch no more than $127,000, a steal compared with the last unit sold.

Christie's is putting the rare computer -- each model was designed and hand-built by Steve Wozniak with input from the late Steve Jobs -- on sale in October, the auction house announced today.

The Apple co-founders produced about 200 of these units and fewer than 50 still exist, according to Christie's. Originally sold for $666.66 from July 1976 to October 1977, the computer that started it all is now selling for tens of thousands of dollars. … Read more

Woz: The cloud is a nightmare

"I think it's going to be horrendous."

This is how much Steve Wozniak is sitting on the fence, when it comes to the cloud.

Somehow, the idea of storing all his data on remote servers over which he has no control appeals to him about as much as the producers on "Dancing With The Stars" once did.

Joining Mike Daisey on stage after his one-man show "The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs" in Washington, Woz offered his usual breezy honesty when answering questions.

According to Agence France-Presse, Woz laid bare his … Read more

Woz: Maybe Microsoft is a different company now

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak is excited about Microsoft.

Yes, even more excited than when he happened to wonder whether Microsoft had re-incarnated Steve Jobs in order to create its new Windows Phones.

I am grateful to Cult of Mac for spotting footage of the Entel Summit in Chile in which Woz waxed lyrical about recent developments in Redmond.

"I do see a lot of stuff coming out from Microsoft in the consumer arena. A lot of people like to say that Microsoft's had no successes in the last so many years, but the Xbox is a success, and … Read more

Here's what Woz really thinks about Kim DotCom

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has come to the defense of MegaUpload founder Kim DotCom.

DotCom is accused by the United States of operating MegaUpload as a piracy enterprise and is fighting an attempt to extradite him from New Zealand to the U.S. (Here is an update about how DotCom's side has seized the momentum in the case.)

Last week, DotCom generated some press by posting a photo to the Web of himself and Wozniak standing together. But Wozniak had yet to comment about the photo or whether he believes DotCom is in the right.

In an exclusive e-mail … Read more
