'Star Wars' glasses: Use the four eyes, Luke!

There are some places where it's not appropriate to wear a Wampa skin "Star Wars" dress covered in fake blood, but you still want to express your fandom through fashion. That's when you whip out your surprisingly subtle Darth Vader glasses.

Japanese company Aigan has introduced a collection of officially licensed "Star Wars" eyeglasses. Choose the Force with Luke Skywalker or R2-D2 styles. Go for the Dark Side with Darth Vader or Stormtrooper models. Can't decide which side you're on? No problem. There's a Boba Fett pair, too.… Read more

Seiko unleashes stylish 'Star Wars' watches

Timing is everything, especially in the "Star Wars" saga. For example, had Han Solo missed that critical shot on the TIE fighter in the trenches of the Rebel assault on the first Death Star, Luke Skywalker would have been toast -- and so would the rebellion against the Empire.

On October 12, Japanese watchmaker Seiko commemorates "Star Wars" in a new collection of themed watches with a collective run of only 5,000 pieces. Six popular characters from the movies each get their own model: Darth Vader, Darth Maul, C-3PO, R2-D2, Yoda, and the lemming-like Stormtrooper. … Read more

Darth Vader onesie: 'Luke, I am your baby!'

Let's face it. Not every parent is going to raise a perfect little Luke Skywalker. If you suspect your wee hellion is leaning in a different direction, then this Darth Vader onesie is the best way to dress the tiny imp.

The $35.95 suit comes complete with a comfy black cap and Darth Vader helmet images on the soles of the booties. There is a cape, as well. Technically, it's not so much a onesie as it is a complete outfit. It fits kids from 6 to 12 months of age.… Read more

Geek eye makeup puts 'Star Wars,' Avengers on your face

Karita Brun is her own designer, makeup artist, model, and photographer. The self-taught artist proudly sports her geeky sensibilities by interpreting characters as diverse at the Hulk and Darth Vader through eye shadow and liner.

"Many comic/movie characters have easily recognizable color or patterns which are easy to transform to makeup," Brun tells Crave. "I just take some key features of a character and start working from there."

Brun has delved into the "Star Wars" universe for both R2-D2 and Darth Vader eyes. Darth presented a special challenge. "My first idea was to do the makeup in the shape of his mask, but as it turned out, it didn't work, it wasn't instantly recognizable," she says. That's when she hit on the idea of adding the lightsaber and cape. The Dark Side has never looked lovelier.… Read more

What's Daddy Darth Vader like at home? Book paints picture

What kind of single dad would the Dark Lord of the Sith make?

When "Darth Vader and Son" comes out next week, we'll finally get an idea. The new illustrated book imagines Lord Vader raising Luke Skywalker, and helps answer the long-burning question: what's the Dark Lord like at home?

Like any father, Domesticated Darth wants his son's approval ("Do you like the eggs I made?"). But he also knows he has to be an authority figure first. (Trick-or-treating is fine, but Jar Jar Binks dolls are simply not allowed in the Vader household.)

If films have taught me one lesson, it's that if you have an emotionally distant father you're going to grow up to be an alcoholic unable to maintain healthy relationships. If only fathers in films actually watched films about fathers, fictional sons would stand a much better chance in life.

"Darth Vader and Son" imagines a world in which Anakin Skywalker got this message and decided to raise a young Luke right. … Read more

Meditation, the 'Star Wars' way

Everyone knows the galaxy can be an irritating place, with enough meddlesome muppets and tiresome teddy bears to strip the composure from even the most accomplished of Jedi masters.

But before you seize that innocent bystander by the neck and go all Dark Lord of the Sith on his unfortunate self, you should know there's a way to calm yourself. No, we don't mean a game of chess with a Wookie--we're talking about the new meditation video from Mr. Take-A-Deep-Breath himself, Darth Vader.

Produced by YouTuber Murdock129, who's also "worked with" Sega and Microsoft (… Read more

'Star Wars' product rejects: Far, far away from reality

I knew there was something missing from my life. I just didn't know what it was until I came across ToyOtter's latest list of rejected "Star Wars" merchandise ideas on Action Figure Insider.

I'm missing a Luke Skywalker/Darth Vader salt and pepper shaker set, without which my life will never be complete. How did this product not get made?

"Let these legends of the kitchen table be a constant reminder of the battle over good and evil in the galaxy," the concept reads. Each morning there could be an epic battle for the very soul of my scrambled eggs.… Read more

Finally, a cost estimate for building a real Death Star

Sometimes it seems the world is so screwed up we should just build a new one from scratch--and now we finally know how much such a project would cost.

In gloriously geeky fashion, economics students at Lehigh University tried to estimate how long it would take and how much it would cost to build the Empire's ginormous man-made planetship if we were to get started today.… Read more

VW tries to out-Vader its last Super Bowl ad

As Bruce Willis can attest, sequels are never easy. Often, they come on the back of unexpected success. The creators are unprepared.

Sympathy is, therefore, deserving to those at VW who had to follow up last year's Super Bowl ad in which a little boy dressed like Darth Vader wanted to force everyday objects to accede to his will.

However, this year's VW follow-up might disappoint some. Here we have a dog trying to lose weight so he can chase a shiny red VW Beetle. Yes, VW already offered a teaser featuring dogs barking the Star Wars Imperial … Read more
