A Cyberpunk world, in a post apocalyptic wasteland being infested by a zombie army? C-Wars seems to hit all of the major buzzwords that would set off any gamer's alarm. Onipunks' brainchild might turn off many players who have been jaded by the promises of many so so and eh-inducing games released this year, the ones that seemed to be the products of some assembly-line design model created to separate us from our money. But after playing the Demo, it would be a lie to say I'm anything less than ecstatic that this game has been successfully funded … Read more
After spending hundreds of dollars on a new digital SLR, the last thing most people want to do is lay out more money for accessories.
Unfortunately, your dSLR's pop-up flash isn't good for much beyond lighting (or blinding) nearby subjects with a blast of direct light; little use to those who bought a camera with a kit lens that zooms past 100mm.
The Rogue Safari from ExpoImaging inexpensively addresses that problem by taking the available light from your pop-up flash and throws it beyond its normal range.
Designed for entry-level and midrange Canon APS-C and Nikon DX digital … Read more
Leaked from today's 404 episode:
- "The Simpsons" parodies the Apple Newton.
- People are now crowdfunding their funerals online.
- Creative Coffins saves you money with a cardboard resting place.

Earlier this year, I set out on a grand journey. I tested several activity trackers all at once, to decide which was the best in accuracy and in motivating me to lose a few pounds. Today, they sit unused on my desk. And I weigh pretty much the same.
What happened? For one, perhaps no one should try to use four activity trackers at the same time. Trying to stay on top of how they all compared ended up feeling like exercise itself.
But ultimately, I perhaps lost my motivation to be motivated by these devices by knowing too much … Read more
When you think of the 1980s, certain catchphrases come to mind: "Where's the beef?" "I'll be back!" and "Everybody have fun tonight/Everybody Wang Chung tonight." Even if you're too young to get the final reference, you've probably heard it on a host of CBS shows like "Two and a Half Men," "How I Met Your Mother," "The Big Bang Theory," and many more programs and films. Wang Chung, whose most memorable singles include "Dance Hall Days," "To Live and Die … Read more
Netflix said it would be setting its original-content sights on documentaries and stand-up specials next, but it didn't mention the two would come hand-in-hand.
The subscription streaming-video service will premiere a comedy special and four-part documentary series based on Canadian comedian Russell Peters' "Notorious" world tour next month. The 70-minute stand-up special, which shares the same name as the tour itself, and docu-series "Russell Peters vs. the World" will be available on Netflix on October 14. They will be available wherever Netflix is.
The move underscores Netflix's ambitions to follow in the path of … Read more
Dial-up Internet was the first online access many people ever knew. It's just that most of them weren't content to stick with it as faster options emerged over time. There are, however, a few dial-up stalwarts still out there. A new home broadband report from the Pew Internet & American Life Project found that 3 percent of American adults get online at home using dial-up.
Those same 3 percent of people are probably the only ones to not illegally download "Game of Thrones." One group that outnumbers the dial-up users (other than the 70 percent of people with broadband), are the 20 percent of people with no home broadband and no smartphone.… Read more
